A misguided decision by a cabal of few army officers to take the law into their hands and dismantle state structures throughout Tigray the last few days has plunged the region into an uncharted territory, with civilians protesting these illegal moves being rounded up and shot at at random. Many casualties in Adigudom and parts of Mekelle. The rampage is part of a harebrained plan to install an illegal faction of TPLF into the position of power, a move that flies full in the face of the aspirations of the people of Tigray and if the Pretoria Agreement. It’s incumbent upon all the stakeholders to the Pretoria agreement to face down such a brazen move before it escalates into another round of devastating war on and against the people of Tigray. There is every reason to believe external forces are trying to take advantage of this crisis to stock up more violence throughout the region and beyond. As if the suffering of hundreds of thousands of people in IDP camps is not worse enough, the very officers who only recently put themselves in harm’s way in their people’s cause. Much as it pains me to break ranks with my erstwhile comrades, it’s altogether fitting and appropriate that we condemn such reckless acts of unmitigated violence in the service of a faction hell bent on grabbing power at all costs.

1. ጽንተት ዝተፈጸማ ትግራይ ፍሉይ ሓላፍነት ትጠልብ። ህዝቢ ትግራይ መሊሱ ከጋጥም ካብ ዝኽእል ኲናት ዘርኣዊፀነተ ዓርሱ ንምክልኻልን ትግራይ ናይ ምህናፅን ፍሉይ ሓላፍነትን ግዴታን ኣለዎ።

2. እዚ ድማ፡ ልዕሊ ዓቕሚ ሓደ ፕሬዝደንት፣ መንግስቲ ይኹን ፓለቲካዊ ውድብ እዩ። ሓላፍንት ሓደ ወለዶ ጥራሕእውን ኣይኮነን። ናይ ዝመጽእ ወለዶታት ኡ'ውን እዩ። እዚ ፀውራ ንውሑዳት መንግስታዊ ሰበ-ስልጣናት፣ጄነራላት፣ ምሁራንን ማሕበራትን ብፍላይ ድማ ንፖለቲከይናታትን ፖለቲካዊ ውድባቶምን ዝድርበይ ኣይኮነን።

4. እዙይ እውን፣ ከምቲ ኣብ መላእ ዓለም ሓደጋ ህልውና ዘጋጥሞም ህዝብታት፣ ህዝቢ ትግራይ ብቐንዱ ዝስዕቡ 7 ከበድቲ ሕቶታትን ስትራተጂያዊ ሰንፈላታት ኣለውዎ።

4.1. ምክልኻልን ኲናት ጽንተት (ሕቶ ሰብኣዊ ድሕነትን ህልውናን) ፣

5. ትግራይ ኣብቲ ዘላቶ ኣዚዩ ዝኸፍአ ኹነታት ኮይንካ፣ ናይ ኩለና ቐዳማይ ትኹረት ኾይኑ ክስራዕ ዘለዎ ቁልፊ ጉዳይመለዓሊን መወዳእታን ኣገዳሲ ኩነት መቓን ኩሉ ዝኾነ ሕቶ ሰብኣዊ ድሕነትን ህልውናን ባህግን ህዝቢ ትግራይን‘ምበር፡ ፖለቲካዊ ስልጣን ክኾን ኣይግባእን።

6. ፖለቲካዊ ፍልልይ ብስልጡን፣ ዴሞክራስያዊ ተፃዋራይነት ግልጽነትን ተሓታትነትን ክትሓዝ ይግባእ። ስልጡንማለት ድማ ሓይሊ መልጢ ምውጋድ ማለት እዩ::

7. በዚ መሰረት፣ ሓይልታት ጸጥታን ፖለቲካዊ ውድባትን ኣሰላልፋን ትግራይ ንህዝቢ ትግራይ ሕቶታት ምላሽ ዝህብንዲሞክራሲያውን ምምሕዳር፡ ንሰብኣዊ መሰላት ምሕላው፡ ንህንፀት ባህሊ ዴሞክራስይዊ ስርዓት ብርኡይ ተግባርከበርክቱ፣ ግልፅነትን ተሓታትነትን ዝተመልኦ ንጥፈታት ዴሞክራስያዊ ምሕደራ ክሰፍን፣ ሰብኣዊ መሰላት ክረጋገፅ፣ዝፍጸሙ ግህሰት መሰላትን ክትትል ንምግባር ብጋህድን ቖራፅነትን ከረጋግፁ (ክንቀሳቐሱ ይግባእ።

Residents of Gulo Mekeda district Eastern #Tigray state they are under security threat

The residents in Gulo Makeda district,told Tigray television that Eritrean forces enter to their localities and continue to pose security threat on their daily lives.

They stress uncertainty has clouded their future.

"We can't make a daily living because we don't know what will happen tomorrow.We couldn't settle until this very moment " says a Woman residing in Sobeya who doesn't want her name to be mentioned for the security reasons.

Deputy District administrator and Head for Economic Sector in Gulumekeda district, Kidane says six vicinities of the district are still under enemy and the Eritrean forces have abducted 48 Tigrayans since the aftermath of the peace accord.

The Head for the Economic Sector also states the interrupted and irregular rain received during the rainy season has resulted in extrem drought and crop failure especially in Fredashum,Haben and Hayelom vicinities of the district .

Kidane adds the Eritrean forces who forcefully occupied the Tigrayan territories have recently expelled more than 487 civilians from Marta vicinity .

He stated the Eritrean regime gave them an option to either get Eritrean Identity or leave the area if they don't.

The deputy administrator also said more than 28,100 population in six vicinities are under occupation by Eritrean forces.

The vice head stated 4 persons have died due to starvation in Sobeya, Fredashum and Shewit lemlem vicinities in Gulomekeda.

He also stated students are interrupting school with 179 drop out confirmed so far .

According to him the drought and lack of food has also resulted in death and diseases to the animals.

Reiterating on the ongoing security threat kidane says 48 people have been kiddnaped only since the signing of peace accord and many continue to live under existential threat .

The drought has also severly hit women and lactating mothers in the district .

Abeba (Name changed ) ,now residing in Sobeya , says her 14 months old daughter weighs 6 kg beleow the average level .

Despite repeatedly visiting nearby health centers, the nursing woman says she couldn't get proper medical service for her malnouritied daughter.

She says life has become worrisome for the family of eight as her belongings were also looted by Eritrean forces during the active conflict.

Mulu Hagos, an elderly woman who resides in Fredashum vicinity calls on the concerned bodies for help .

"We survived the deadly war .But, we are on the brink of annihilation due to hunger " says the old woman whose properties were pillaged by invaders .

Hagos (Name changed) also emphasis for a swift solution by the Ethiopian Government to end the security threat that is forcing the productive age for migration .

#WHO Director-General urges global action as dire humanitarian crises unfold in #Ethiopia's #Tigray, #Amhara regions

Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), has drawn attention to the dire humanitarian situation unfolding in Tigray, Amhara, and various parts of Ethiopia, which has been exacerbated by a severe drought. This alarming crisis has intensified food insecurity and widespread malnutrition, placing millions of individuals at risk of starvation. Speaking at the Association des Correspondents Auprès des Nations Unies (#ACANU) press corps, Tedros emphasized the unfolding humanitarian crises in conflict-ridden nations, including Ethiopia and Sudan.

During his address, the Director-General highlighted the ongoing human rights crises in Ethiopia, despite peace agreements. He underscored the concerning lack of action in addressing sexual violence in the Tigray region and the detrimental impact of the ongoing conflict in the Amhara region on healthcare facilities. Tedros expressed deep dismay at the persistent use of rape and other forms of gender-based violence, describing the scale of these atrocities in Tigray as unprecedented in his professional experience. He lamented the lack of media coverage, emphasizing the urgent need for attention and intervention.

Furthermore, Tedros emphasized that gender-based violence, particularly conflict-related sexual violence, can be prevented, stressing the importance of ensuring all survivors have access to compassionate healthcare services. Additionally, he shed light on the state of emergency in the neighboring Amhara region, where the ongoing conflict has resulted in the destruction of healthcare facilities, including a recent drone attack on an ambulance that tragically claimed five lives.
