If mobile phones are not allowed people will use button camera or meta glasses. If someone wants to be notorious they will be.
Additionally, think about 1k people surrendering their phones in a counter - it could be grossly mismanaged and again send out a bad name to the government
Also with the queue that might take hours, there could be family emergencies that needs to be addressed which concerns devotee’s safety.
Instead a camera blocker device can be placed which is very low cost. With growing technology it is useful to curb any types of media capture and also it would be a simpler administrative solution

#TVK govt’s biggest Tasmac reform so far to curb corruption, ease access of buying to customers.
Online purchase of liquor to roll out by tomorrow. Now, people can choose the liquor available in stock through the website and buy them. It will be reserved for them, and they can collect it from the stock. You can buy liquor from anywhere across Tamil Nadu. The story was first broken by @venkad_toi for @TOIChennai. An explainer video on how to use the website.
My takeaway from the #TVK government’s first Budget:
No mega flyovers. No big-ticket highways. No flashy landmark projects or cosmetic upgrades. A complete opposite to a traditional #DMK or #AIADMK budget.
Instead, the focus was on governance and services that affect everyday life like schools, hospitals, sports, urban infrastructure, public transport and water supply.
One of the biggest themes caught my eye was procurement reform. The government repeatedly highlighted open and global tenders, promising greater competition, transparency and better value for public money.
Not the most glamorous Budget. But if the tender reforms highlighted by the finance minister is implemented well, it could end up making a bigger difference to people’s lives than a list of mega projects.
Great. Now tasmac goes online. All you need to do is click into the website https://t.co/IOrq0veCbM and once you prove you are above age of 21. You can book your liquor and pick it up from the shop of your choice.
You can even buy it online for somebody living in other parts of Tn and they can pick it up. Reduces the option of fleecing extra money.
In India, politicians are often associated with Defenders, BMWs and Fortuners. Large SUVs have become the default political convoy. Seeing a minister on a scooter is a welcome departure from the norm.
If the WRD minister takes this beyond photo-ops and regularly commutes through Chennai traffic, it could be more than symbolism. Experiencing the city’s congestion firsthand may also push the bureaucracy to take traffic planning and road management more seriously.
#TVK led TN govt tightens its grip on the #DMK-led local bodies.
The state municipal administration and water supply department, headed by @CMOTamilnadu, has directed local bodies not to split projects into small components to evade state govt’s administrative and financial sanction.
As per TN ULB rules, projects above Rs 10 crore require a state govt sanction. However, in the past few years, officials artificially split bigger projects into multiple smaller projects, making it fall under Rs 10 crore, so that the project can be approved within the Greater Chennai Corporation council headed by the Mayor.
Projects worth Rs 3500 crore, broken into smaller projects, have been executed like that in the 2 years alone without any financial backing. This means, tenders were just floated and awarded, without financial support for the project. This led to a big debt for GCC which has no funds to pay back the bills for contractors.
Besides, it also affected consistency, continuity and completion of projects.
Now, the govt has strictly warned officials not to split projects to evade govt scrutiny. It has mandated administrative and financial sanction of govt and has told local bodies not to execute projects if they don’t have funds. It has told local bodies to focus only on basics like street lights, solid waste management, water supply and daily maintenance.
Floating tenders alone without funds have been the practice in @chennaicorp in the last few years and it has led to an outstanding debt of Rs 3434 crore for the civic body. Rs 2000 crores now and another Rs 1500 crore in the coming year. All these are unpaid bills. In the last few years, GCC council gave approval for several projects under GCC’s capital funds even when the civic body had no funds. Many of the projects did not have any fund promise from govt too. The GCC in a note said it transferred 3.6 times its capacity from its revenue account to capital account to fund projects and yet it wasn’t enough. Now GCC plans to waive off the debts through a bank bidding system settling contractors through bank and later repaying it to banks. Greater Chennai Contractors Association asks Tamil Nadu govt to suspend officials who floated tenders, executed projects, without any financial backing for the projects.
VIDEO | Delhi: After meeting Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, AISA president Neha Bora says, “I think the discussion we had today with Rahul Gandhi sir was most fruitful. Discussions like these, about the country's education system, hardly ever take place. There is no meaningful discussion on education. There is no discussion on how the entire education system has been taken over in such a way that the education, learning, and curiosity of young, promising minds are being destroyed. We had a wonderful discussion on this issue. Another concern that we shared with sir was that there was a call for a Bihar Bandh today. Before the bandh, yesterday, a large number of student activists were arrested by the Bihar Police…The three demands that sir has put forward here truly represent the demands of the youth and students of this country."
She added, "There can be no step back on the demand for Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. No change of ministry will be acceptable. No bill against paper leaks is going to satisfy the demand that Dharmendra Pradhan must resign. There must also be accountability for the violence that took place on the 20th. The Commissioner of Police and the Home Minister must also be held accountable. There can be no compromise or adjustment on this issue.”

TN govt’s order for equal display of all liquor manufacturers in Tasmac is reflecting in racks already. I’ve not seen these many KF Blue which is united spirit’s premium beers within Kingfisher, being available in #TASMAC. There are also Pint variants ( Rs 80 only) and Jack Daniels whiskey quarter, which was mostly available only in Puducherry, is also displayed in Elite shops. 👇🏽 These aren’t the greatest but Tamil Nadu is getting the basics of alcohol finally.
