Something wild to me is when people tell me to stop picking my skin when I literally have dermatillomania. Yes I can stop picking my skin on cue just cuz it annoys you☺️
This scene hits hard today.
I grew up watching Friends, it was a relatively wholesome show and it’s hard to describe nowadays the huge impact it had on teenagers and people coming of age in the nineties. It feels like a bit of your childhood has gone when you lose such a likable, funny well loved character.
He was always my favourite ‘Friend’ because he was the most relatable character. Only years later did I realise it’s because Chandler did something that I and many other people do, he used humour to mask trauma and pain.
But Matthew Perry wasn’t Chandler, he wasn’t just a character, he was a man that bravely spoke about his struggles with addiction and dedicated himself to helping others that had been there.
He opened facilities, worked hard to help other people turn around their lives and said that’s how he wanted to be remembered, so that is how he will be remembered - As a good, brave man that faced the hell of addiction head on then did what he could to break the stigma of such a hellish disease then offered a hand other people trying hard to climb out of the pit.
He faced judgement and backlash for doing this, he knew he would, he did it anyway. That takes courage.
Very sad news.

@brassoteach I was in year 4 and attempting my neatest possible handwriting on a piece of work, and my teacher came and looked over my shoulder and said ‘your handwriting has gone from bad to worse’ it crushed me! 😂
@PickingMeFdn I was a child when it was first mentioned by a Dr, early 20s when a therapist helped me understand it a bit more and the links with my tendencies for anxiety and ocd and now I’m 34 and still fighting it every day and losing ☹️
Apart from the hay fever, the constant sweat, the sunburn, the lack of sleep, the wasps, the bug bites, the baking hot car, the 3am sunrise, the non-stop disco from next door’s garden, the yellow lawn, the heat rash, the absence of air con and the complete lack of energy… I’m actually a big fan of Summer.
@EmillieGibb I would love if it was 😂 but my detective skills tell me that this was supposedly in England, but the West Midlands police apology spelt apologise with a Z 🕵️♀️
@RealSavageLike_ I’ve never been brave enough to talk about it, I tell people it’s eczema or just avoid their questions. It always makes me feel less alone and less ashamed when I see other people talk about it, so thanks ❤️
