@allowind It could be both! I can also imagine that "just-world" thinking could be at play here. "There is justice in the world, and my side is the just one -> we must prevail". This can get mixed with the lack of actual control (which is sadly the case there).

@allowind Yes, something like that. If you consider conspiracy theories as a way to cope with increasing complexity of the world, then this is another, optimistic, but none less toxic way to do that. The main idea that someone is in control is the same IMO. What do you think?
