I had the privilege of joining Matthew Schatz and his family in Brookfield and presenting him with a legislative recognition of his leadership, service, and character that has earned him the rank of Eagle Scout. Congrats!
I was honored to join the Elm Grove community as we remembered and honored the men and women who sacrificed everything for our country at the Elm Grove #MemorialDay parade.
The unofficial start of summer is a reminder of the blessings our freedom affords us. Today, on #MemorialDay, we remember what makes that freedom possible and honor the fallen men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
Patti and I send our best wishes to Mayor Ponto and his family as he takes a temporary leave of absence as Brookfield mayor related to personal matters. We are tremendously grateful for his many years of service and pray circumstances allow for a swift return to public service.
I recently joined a class of EMT graduates, including several residents of the 5th, at a ceremony hosted by @SuperiorAmb. I commend Superior and most especially their graduates for their hard work and dedication to serving our communities in these critical roles.
I had the chance to present legislative recognitions to Dr. Preetha Kurudiyara and Sam Hughes and thank them for their years of dedicated service to Elmbrook Schools as they step away from the School Board. Thank you!
It was great to visit the FIRST Robotics annual state championship this weekend at Brookfield East. Year after year the robotics students wow and inspire the rest of us with their innovations - they have a bright future!
It was my honor yesterday to present a legislative recognition to Brett Weinandt for his tremendous leadership and extensive community service that earned him the rank of Eagle Scout - the highest and most honored rank in the Boy Scouts. Congrats!
It was great to join Professor Stevenson at UW-Madison's law school to discuss one of my longtime areas of interest with the students - criminal justice and re-entry and reform after incarceration.
Today the Senate Committee on Universities and Technical Colleges met to get some answers from members of the Board of Regents on the firing of UW System President Jay Rothman.
My statement here: https://t.co/PCR2ZQVCNu
The Regents owe the Wisconsin citizens, employers, and students who rely on a strong, stable UW System an explanation if they choose to throw the System into turmoil.
The Board of Regents once again appears to be distracted by politics and unable to concentrate on addressing the big picture challenges the UW System faces. Instead of focusing on major structural and curriculum reforms throughout the entire system,
It’s disappointing that Governor Evers has chosen to shrug his shoulders and sit idly by as his own Regents act against the best interests of the UW System.
The Board of Regents once again appears to be distracted by politics and unable to concentrate on addressing the big picture challenges the UW System faces. Instead of focusing on major structural and curriculum reforms throughout the entire system,
the Regents seem determined to stray into backroom maneuvering that further diminishes the reputation of the UW brand and undermines its long-term mission of preparing our students for an ever-changing marketplace.
