How do epigenetic modifications contribute to #neocortex#development?
Excited about our new comprehensive pre-print on the #epigenome in human #corticogenesis. We identify a novel role of PRC2 in regulating #ECM composition. @CRTDpress

In September dear @HoffmannJanin defended her PhD thesis successfully, and became the first Dr. graduated from our lab! Today she starts her new job in Reykjavík, Iceland as Research Scientist and we wish all the best to her! 🥂👏
Last week we had our lab day on a beautiful summer day in Spreewald! We discussed what de/motivates us, what should we do to improve things, how to keep our positive culture in the lab. Well, after hours of paddling, pipetting wasn’t easy on the next day, but it’s worth it! 😊
New preprint from our lab is out!

With this study we set out to detangle the different roles of PRC1 subunit PCGF during neurodevelopement.
Our PhD student @HoffmannJanin’s work with the help of @t_schuetze & Annika Kolodziejczyk and our collaborators!

Last Sunday we celebrated our lab’s 5th year anniversary on a rainy day in the forest! We were so happy that many of the alumni, colleagues, friends&family could come. Thank you all again for celebrating this milestone together, with delicious science themed food😊
Hi all!
Have you seen the cover of last issue of @embojournal beautifully illustrated by @joana_gcc and asked yourself who are the people involved in this exciting research on epigenetics and brain development? We are Albert Lab from Dresden and this is our official account!
We are recruiting #PhD students! Interested in #neurodevelopment#epigenetics? Enthusiastic PhD candidates can apply via the Dresden International Graduate School @digsbb@CRTDpress
Deadline: 29 April 2024

Ever wondered what makes us uniquely human? It might just be our neocortex!🧠
Researchers, led by @MareikeAlbert at @CRTDpress@tudresden_de, unveil a factor that could have fueled neocortex expansion in humans.

Big thank you to @BorrellLab for writing such a great News and Views on our recent evolutionary study in @embojournal by Paula Cubillos @digsbb@CRTDpress!

How is #neocortex size regulated? Which factors promote basal progenitor expansion during #development? Our study on the growth factor Epiregulin is now out in @embojournal. Spearheaded by amazing PhD student Paula Cubillos @digsbb@CRTDpress.
https://t.co/r4908YYX7b
The growth factor EPIREGULIN competes with EGF to promote basal progenitor cell proliferation in the developing neocortex, possibly contributing to neocortex expansion in primates

Getting primary school kids excited about #science 🧠🧫Spent the morning talking about the brain, neurons and research @CRTDpress . I wish I would get just half as many questions in lectures from students 😉 Next generation of scientists 🥼 #outreach
