Actually, we do need sunlight in the morning. Morning light suppresses melatonin and increases cortisol, helping commuters wake up and stay alert. It also improves road conditions by reducing fog and helping melt ice.
How about this.
Instead of moving the clocks around every person who likes Daylight Saving Time should ask their employers if they can start their shift one hour earlier.
Seems like the easiest solution if they have evenings full of outdoor activities planned.
People who like Standard Time stay on their schedule like usual.
People who like DST get out of work early.
I believe we need to abandon DST and lock the clocks to Standard Time. I doubt such a change would be miraculously passed by the completely disfunctional legislative branch of our government. However, it if did happen, this one key thing must happen…
The last fall back needs to be scheduled in the middle of summer, not November. Why? Because too many people negatively associate ST with short winter days. There would be an instant and prolonged knee jerk reaction. Do it in summer and people get to experience ST in part of summer to inform opinion before winter arrives. Ease into winter days becomes gradual.
No time for chatting, there’s a photo to take.
During the 2018 Australia tour, Meghan Markle presents an award and promptly hustles the winner into the picture — smiling the entire time like nothing’s being rushed.

I might have some sympathy for the permanent DST folks if we hadn’t *ALREADY TRIED IT* and discovered that it’s awful. Every country that has tried permanent DST (including the US!) has repealed it within a couple years. Every time people think they will love it, but they don’t.
The great thing about summer is it has lots of daylight hours.
There is no rhyme or reason in trying to save them.
I like early morning sunrises and others like late evening sunsets.
Summer offers both without time change.
DST is nothing more than an illusion.
Alright kids, brush your teeth! Time to get ready for bed!
But it’s still daylight outside. :(
I know, but it’s bed time.
What’s the point of having more daylight if we can’t even stay up to enjoy it?
Sorry, you’ve got to go bed so we can all wake up in the dark tomorrow.
No. Permanent DST would push winter sunrise as late as 9am, leaving schoolchildren and morning commuters in hazardous darkness. Natural morning light is crucial for healthy circadian rhythms and quality sleep. Ditch DST, restore permanent Standard Time!
There’s nothing I enjoy about spring forward. I don’t like the sun still being out between 8 and 9pm. It’s ridiculous I’m gonna be in this time vortex of hell for 8 months!
You’re forgetting the long hours of darkness in the mornings you’ll have with permanent DST. That’s why there was a huge public outcry when it was tried in the 1970s.
Can’t anyone learn from history?

@FFT1776@SaveStandard Those who want permanent DST are likely equating it with summer and thinking it will make summer year round. It won’t, nor will permanent standard time get rid of summer
