A joint intelligence-led operation involving Highway Patrol, JMPD , Randburg SAPS, 24/7 Security, Night Guard, and Beagle Watch resulted in the arrest of one suspect linked to vehicle-related crimes in Gauteng.
Members identified a suspicious vehicle travelling along Main Road and Bryanston Drive. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply, resulting in a high-speed chase that ended at Winnie Mandela Shopping Centre. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the shopping centre.
Following a coordinated search, one suspect was successfully arrested, while efforts to trace the remaining suspects continue.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of:
2 × Signal Jamming Devices
2 × False Registration Plates
6 × Pairs of Gloves
Car-Breaking Implements
1 × Toyota Prado Licence Disc
Further investigation revealed that the recovered Toyota Prado licence disc tested positive in connection with Sandton CAS ###/06/2026, while the vehicle's VIN number tested positive as a stolen motor vehicle under Norwood CAS ###/05/2026.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Randburg SAPS on charges relating to possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, possession of signal-jamming devices, possession of car-breaking implements, and related offences.
Investigations are ongoing to trace and arrest the outstanding suspects

Information Provider: PHO Crime Intelligence & Pretoria DistrictOperational Team: Highway Patrol & Pretoria West Task Team

On 03 June 2026, information was received regarding a suspected CIT safe house at Plantation Street, Silverton, Pretoria. Intelligence indicated that several vehicles linked to a planned robbery in Mamelodi were at the address.

Upon arrival, members found a white Mercedes-Benz ML350 and a Toyota Fortuner. Both vehicles were confirmed stolen and linked to existing cases. A 5-litre container of petrol and various documents were recovered from the Mercedes-Benz.

The property owner was interviewed and stated that the premises had been rented out. Further investigation linked both vehicles to Cash-in-Transit robberies in Tembisa and Bronkhorstspruit.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of explosives and wiring concealed inside a broken Toyota Quantum. A white VW Kombi belonging to PRASA ,was also found on the property and is under investigation.

Members of SAPS Highway Patrol, together with Springs SAPS,PHO CRIME INTELLIGENCE INFORMATION and the RTMC, followed up on information regarding a Hyundai Creta suspected of being registered using false information in Tembisa.
The vehicle was successfully recovered. Upon inspection, it was found to have two VIN numbers.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been purchased at Sir Motors, Springs.
Members proceeded to the identified address, where two additional vehicles were recovered and positively linked to a Rietgat case.
The owner of the premises was arrested for possession of stolen vehicles and fraud.
