Watching a TV series with the kids ...
Me: You do know, this is rated PG18.
They: Yeah we know, but you're not 18 any more either ...
I've been schooled by them. Couldn't be more proud.
@dougmoscrop@kelseyhightower Where?
I'm not referring to CDK/Pulumi style I'm talking about the basic call to connect creating the actual database without changes to code.
Some middleware that observes this.
@kelseyhightower Leads to roughly 30 years that we need to keep that "current" thing somehow alive or at least able to recreate.
Talk about maintaining versions.
@kelseyhightower We care. Regulated industry. We need to keep the possibility to prove that the analysis, at that time, was done correctly (repro full analysis pipeline). Product dev cycle from idea to market ~10 years.
+ keep that same possibility alive for 10 years after last product sale.
@kelseyhightower Feels like we got stuck at the "basic" level. It's like Go "use the stdlib". For the longest time this was canon, it inky changed when we learned how to apply higher level constructs.
For some reason we haven't (significantly) progressed in the infrastructure as code space.
@remarkablepaper I know, all I’m saying is there’s no “hey need new tips? Just a single click away!” … you’re making me click too often to throw money at you.
While we’re at it, why is there no subscription to get new tips every couple of months?
@pinkboots4ever@KSVesq People are making stupid choices now. Being banned from a campus for wearing a sombrero, being blocked off by mad people when a hair dresser gives people dread locks. Most things are sensible but the stupid things are really stupid.
