It takes a certain degree of disconnection, isolation and disregard for the people for ANYONE to somehow think it appropriate to say that Lagos Traffic - amounting to 7 waking hours on average per working Lagosian, spent on just COMMUTING to and from work - should be celebrated.
Lagos Traffic actually kills Lagosians. A pastor of mine, a banker, a husband and father, died in Lagos Traffic.
An elder brother of a namesake from Ibeju-Lekki, also died in traffic at Mile 2.
I know of many Lagosians that have developed High Blood Pressure or worsened existing cardiac conditions because of Lagos Traffic
Families are separated because of Lagos Traffic. An entire generation of young Lagosians have grown up either almost without enough input from their fathers, or with both parents largely absent from their lives, because of Lagos Traffic.
Lagos businesses lose millions of man hours and billions of naira DAILY because of Lagos Traffic.
I do not think that Lagosians that have been harassed, attacked or robbed in Lagos Traffic will agree that it is a "lifestyle" that should be "celebrated".
@GRVlagos and I have always known this, and we have come up with a practical integrated, multi-modal transport plan that should cut the average Lagos daily commute time from the disgraceful 7 hours it currently is to around 2 hours.
We will fix the major arterial roads first, mostly along the main bus routes, because we are bringing in a much larger number of buses than are currently in the service of LAMATA, but we cannot afford to damage them within a few weeks because of bad roads. We will also increase the number of motorable roads from the 1.3km/km² we currently have, to at least 5km/km² within 18 months. For reference, Singapore, 20% the size of Lagos, has 13.6km/km².
We will build more jetties and introduce bigger catamaran platforms with roro facilities, so that vehicles as large as semi-trailer trucks and buses can be ferried at reasonable speeds across the relatively shallow Lagos waterways, alongside passaengers. Our lagoons, rivers and canals will certainly become busier.
We will expand the railway provision to connect more parts of the state more quickly. We know that we need at least another 11 lines, and at least 300 more train stations, in addition to the buses and ferries. For reference, Singapore had 10 functional railway lines, and 148 railway stations.
Only a man who has had the privilege of travelling in heavily guarded convoys for the 21 years he has lived off taxpayers' funds can see the soul-destroying Lagos gridlock as something to be celebrated.
We do not see Lagos Traffic as something to be celebrated.
We see it as a problem to be solved, and by God, and with your help, we will reduce it drastically.
If we all work together, we will Make Èkó Great Again.

Twice in recent weeks, Obafemi Hamzat and the APC have given us insight into how they see you.
In August: can't afford rent? Move back in with your parents.
This week: Lagos traffic is "not a problem, it's just a lifestyle."
Daily soul-crushing traffic is not a lifestyle. It is governance failure.
Vast numbers of Lagosians leave home before 5am and get back after their children are asleep. They lose hours of work, money on fuel and fares, time, health and wellbeing they will never get back. That is a cost to every household and every business in this state.
Housing, public transportation and traffic are closely related problems. You cannot fix one without planning for the others. But the first step to fixing them is to acknowledge them.
This government has ignored the pains of Lagosians for years. This is just the latest example. Lagos needs a government that acknowledges problems and uses its resources to solve them, not one that celebrates them.
Inefficiency is not culture, it’s failure

With Hamzat, this is best time for opposition to actually take over Lagos.
APC is a useless party normally but I didn't know they could do worse than Sanwo-Olu.
Doherty and GRV should be on the same side of fight not on opposing sides, it's an insane opportunity they've been provided.
👀 @drobafemihamzat you are flat wrong! We may need you to sit in traffic yourself more, you won't be celebrating anything.
Plus the issue is quite simple to see and solve. It isn't brain surgery.
Lagos has a public transport issue.
People commute with others to get to work. Or use private buses provided by their companies or service providers.
This creates choke points where people get out to change routes.
Each of these choke points lead to backing up of traffic.
One such point is at Oworonshoki Bus Stop at the end of the 3rd mainland bridge. That simple act of people getting out to get into other cars, plus the need to change lanes right there if you want to head towards Gbagada causes the back up on the bridge. Every DAMN DAY.
It is not some economic activity causing it. It is poor road design.
You, Sir, can fix it. Now. Not when governor. Start now. It is never late.
In fact, a simple Gemini search tells you the issue:
--
When you cross the 11.8 km expanse from the Island and descend the ramp onto the Mainland, you hit the Oworonshoki interchange, where the bridge splits into the Oshodi–Apapa Expressway and the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Why that specific spot creates total gridlock:
The Loading & Drop-off Point:
Commercial buses (Danfos and korope mini-buses) treat the end of the bridge as an impromptu terminal. They pull over onto the active lanes—or merge abruptly from the lay-by—to drop off commuters who need to switch vehicles to reach areas like Ketu, Mile 12, Ikorodu, Berger, or Oshodi.
Aggressive Lane Cutting:
Passengers jumping out and switching buses cause drivers to stop suddenly, double-park, or slow to a crawl, creating a severe bottleneck right where high-speed bridge traffic naturally tries to disperse.
The "Y-Junction" Merge:
The bottleneck is compounded because traffic heading toward Gbagada/Oshodi and traffic veering toward Ojota/Berger cross paths right at the foot of the bridge.
Traffic task forces regularly attempt to clear static buses from the foot of the bridge, but the high volume of daily commuters swapping buses at Oworonshoki keeps the pressure constant.
Traffic in Lagos should not be tolerated as a lifestyle. It is a major drain on productivity.
Every hour trapped in traffic is an hour taken away from work, family and opportunity.
We should not celebrate a failure of urban planning as if it were a feature of Lagos.
We will deliver a Lagos where commuting is seamless, efficient and affordable. A Lagos where getting to work doesn’t feel like a second job.
Anambra Debt: I Stand by My Statement, Peter Obi Left $155m in Three Banks — Otti
In a piece I wrote over six years ago titled "Prudence Over Profligacy," I demonstrated, using the balance Peter Obi left in Anambra, that it is still possible to be prudent in government. As CEO of the bank at that time, I advised Peter Obi to leave the money in dollars, not naira. The Soludo administration’s allegations do not invalidate what I wrote nor the credit he left behind. If otherwise, the Anambra State Government should publish the debts.

My first day with the Xiaomi 18 Fold is over, and I got used to this little foldable surprisingly quickly.
The 5.4” cover screen is short and wide. It’s comfortable to use with one hand for checking notifications, scrolling, or opening apps. I can type with one thumb too, though I’m faster when I use both hands.
The surprising part? I opened the phone less often than I expected. The cover screen handles so much on its own. When I have a moment to sit down, that’s when I unfold it. I actually prefer to use it in portrait. It feels like a little tablet for articles, social media, emails, and multiple apps. Turn it sideways and videos and games look great. I also love taking a photo with the phone closed, then opening it to see it on the larger screen.
I can already see myself using this format as my main phone. The only thing holding me back is that my main phone is an iPhone and I’m deep in the Apple ecosystem. Now I’m even more excited for the iPhone Duo.

I for one isn't surprised about mavo being a scumbag.
It's always the ones that look like life handed them a bad hand that feel the need to test 2 extremes - very agreeable or very dark hearted.
Anyways, I hope he's blackballed by all the artists he spewed rubbish on.
