Improvement is fun

Smartphones should be used like flashcards were for presentations in middle school. You mainly look out at the people and only once in a while glance down when you're anxious or lost.

@robertwiblin David Deutsch beginning of infinity please!

[Session_Notes @session_notes]

@EricJorgenson @perigean @aniketvartak @DavidDeutschOxf Epic response lol

[Session_Notes @session_notes]

@awilkinson Andrew if you haven’t explored him already, you’d certainly enjoy @DavidDeutschOxf Deutsch! And @astupple

[Session_Notes @session_notes]

@perigean @reasonisfun Brian, have you written anywhere where you agree + disagree with TCS?

[Session_Notes @session_notes]

@reasonisfun Lulie, you rock, I think "error-checker gone wrong" is my new favorite way of describing extreme inner critics. Beautiful synergy of Popper<> IFS

[Session_Notes @session_notes]

@perigean @DavidDeutschOxf Is there anywhere you expand on this more? Are you saying that because he argues children don’t learn through bucket theory etc, that that contradicts that they can easily learn to conform through bucket theory?

Naval discussing a home schooled @reasonisfun who wouldn’t get bullied because other kids knew she was there optionally and could leave at any time. “Where do you get [bullying]? You get bullying in prison and in schools.” seems @astupple is on to this whole rules are fun as long as you can opt out thing. @naval

@wolfejosh @sapinker @DavidDeutschOxf Josh, any update to this tweet 5yrs later?

Rational Meme: Survives because it helps solve problems and correct errors
Anti-Rational Meme: Survives because it eliminates error correction capabilities.

Which one is school?

Smart humans know that the right problems lead to great solutions (necessity is the mother of invention). Thus it’s no mystery why Michael Jordan would invent rivalries, he was chasing greatness and wasn’t going to let the poverty of real issues stand in his way. “Chips on shoulders put chips in pockets” after all @wolfejosh

"In searching for the truth, it may be our best plan to start by criticizing our most cherished beliefs. This may seem to some a perverse plan. But it will not seem so to those who want to find the truth and are not afraid of it."
- Karl Popper

@gouravsoni Would love to hear more about this experience to serve as an experiential example for my own understanding of it!

[Session_Notes @session_notes]

@gouravsoni @arjunkhemani @DavidDeutschOxf Been trying to parse this for a few weeks - can't fully wrap my brain about the takeaways or implications of the fun criteria - the 20 min video with Lulie is bit over my head. Got any insights for me or resources?

Animal Curiosity: A genetically built in impulse to investigate novelty in one’s environment.
Human Curiosity: Investigation of familiar things, even the most familiar things I.e the lights in the sky.
