MANHATTAN, KS | OV - From the beginning of this recruiting process my prayer has been that a Canaan would be 100% confident in his decision. I had no idea just how completely and miraculously that request would be answered!! This weekend was a dream…the FAMILY of KSU FOOTBALL rolled out the “purple carpet” and showered C and our family with all the love…their excitement to have him on the team is evident and he is sooo excited!! What a joy to meet so many quality athletes that will be coming in next spring and doing this college football journey together!! A special thanks to @fbcoachck @shalinklein and all the AMAZING @kstatefb staff for the star treatment!! #emaw #ksufootball27
7 Ways to Stand Out in College Football Recruiting
Talent may get you noticed.
Readiness is what keeps you in the conversation.
Here are 7 ways to separate yourself:
1. Build your body.
Get stronger, faster, more explosive, and more durable. College coaches recruit players who are physically preparing for the next level.
2. Handle your business in the classroom.
Grades matter. Test scores matter. Core courses matter. Academic readiness can open doors — or close them.
3. Get your film right.
Your highlight film should be clear, updated, position-specific, and easy for coaches to evaluate. Your best plays need to show up early.
4. Communicate like a recruit.
Reach out to coaches with purpose. Share your film, introduce yourself well, follow up professionally, and stay consistent.
5. Know your target schools.
Do not just chase logos. Build a realistic list based on fit, level, academics, roster needs, location, and opportunity.
6. Lead where you are.
Coaches are watching more than talent. Be coachable, respect teachers, elevate teammates, and carry yourself like someone they can trust.
7. Understand the recruiting timeline.
Recruiting has rules, windows, dead periods, camp seasons, contact dates, and key moments. The athletes who know what to do — and when to do it — are better prepared.
Bottom line:
The goal is not just to be talented.
The goal is to be ready.
Be prepared. Be intentional. Be 7%.

Talent may get a college coach to look.
But behavior, mindset, and leadership are what keep them watching.
College football recruiting is about more than size, speed, strength, and film. Coaches are evaluating how you carry yourself, how you respond to coaching, how you lead your teammates, and whether you can be trusted inside their program.
Be the athlete who stands out for the right reasons.
Talent starts the conversation. Character separates you.

We’ll all wait, and regardless of where he ends up (all our biases aside) he is a great young man that will do amazing things wherever he lands! Just hoping it’s in Manhappiness. 🙌🏽💜
