A enhanced risk upgrade would be very justified in the lower Ohio valley right now. A very ripe environment is in place for strong to intense tornadoes.

Rapidly changing situation. Even since the 7:45 am update from SPC, I believe the risk is escalating quickly in southeast #MO, southern IL, western KY, and northeast AR. Risk is unchanged in the eastern Ozarks and #STL area, but rapidly decreasing northwest of STL. #MOwx

The Enid tornado had some of the wildest deviant motion I’ve ever seen on radar at the end of its life.

April 2-3, 2025:

A massive outbreak of over 90 tornadoes struck the Central and Southern US. 29 tornadoes were significant (EF2+), four of which were rated EF3. Substantial damage occurred at Lake City, Arkansas, and Selmer, Tennessee. Eight people were killed.

@JaydonShawwx I do think that the March 14th outbreak is a very close 2nd the density and strength of tornadoes over that much of an area is pretty surreal and historic.

@JaydonShawwx Dec 10th easily. Those who stayed up that night and witnessed what happened would likely agree too. The whole weather community was in shock days and months after that event. Me personally, the WKY tornado only missed my house by less than two miles.

@PettusWX We had an ice storm in 2009 that dropped 1.5-2 inches of ice here in west KY and we still had our power back in a week even though we live out in the middle of nowhere. It’s ridiculous that the crews down there are still struggling over a week later with like half of what we had.

@Kentucky_WX Only positive thing is that we could have more sleet mix in than models realize but we are now in a nowcasting mode tbh.

@Kentucky_WX Man that significant ice line is slowly inching past the parkways now on short range models every run. Current analysis has the warm nose way farther north than models have it. Not good for people along and just north of the parkways!
