You might be too trusting of people who say, "more and more of the national wealth should be in MY pockets, not yours."

One way or another more and more wealth that used to be distributed across the population is ending up in bigger fortunes in fewer hands. Hence the middle class is vanishing and the country is visibly poorer.

In a few generations the middle class has been replaced by a few gazillionaires.
