35 Syracuse University students studying abroad were killed in the Pan Am flight 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988. Today members of my office attended the annual rose ceremony that honors 270 people, including the 35 American students.
The United States Attorney’s Office in Washington DC, and law-enforcement agencies in Scotland and around the world have pursued justice for all of the victims. The families left behind will finally be able to see justice play out when my office prosecutes Abu Agila Mohammed Mas’ud Khier Al-Marimi in April of 2026.

Amidst the devastation of the California fires, one four-legged hero brought comfort where it was needed most. Jack, an 11-year-old Golden Retriever, served alongside Pasadena Fire Department volunteer chaplain Victor Laveaga, greeting exhausted firefighters and displaced families at evacuation centers.
For first responders who had worked 20 to 30 hours straight, a moment with Jack provided a much-needed break—easing stress, lifting spirits, and helping them process the challenges they faced on the fire lines.
Laveanga shared, "There was one firefighter, his face was dirty with soot, the white of the eye was red from all the soot that was in the air - he came over and petted Jack, then walked away and a few minutes later he came back -- got down on his knee to hug Jack around the neck. That firefighter overcoming extreme obstacles to protect lives and property—they’re the heroes.”
A simple moment of connection made all the difference. Thank you Jack for all you do! ❤️🐶 #ServiceDogSaturday
Ronald Reagan on why immigrants make America great: “You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American.''
“This, I believe, is one of the most important sources of America's greatness. We lead the world because, unique among nations, we draw our people -- our strength -- from every country and every corner of the world. And by doing so we continuously renew and enrich our nation.”
