OUTRIGHT Southland Champions for Stephen F. Austin!
@SFA_MBB locks down UIW in the final 4 minutes, with some big time shots from Patrick and Chotikavanic to get a 76-68 win. Lumberjacks (27-4) head to Lake Charles as the top seed in the @SouthlandSports Tournament. #AxeEm
@MitchMossRadio appreciate the SFA 1min talk vs mcneese tonight however it’s either SFA or Stephen F Austin NOT SF Austin - couldn’t find the guest you just had on who kept saying it incorrectly - love FTM!
Stephen F. Austin is one of the hottest teams in the country.
The Lumberjacks are 16-3, 9-1 in the Southland, and 95th in KenPom.
Their three losses are by a combined nine points, while they are dominating their opponents.
Their defensive metrics carry the heavy-weight punch as they are 58th in defensive adjusted efficiency, 9th in opponent effective field goal percentage, 8th in opponent three-point shooting percentage, and 28th in opponent two-point shooting percentage.
Keon Thompson and Lateef Patrick are controlling the offense. Thompson is averaging 16.9 points with 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists while shooting 49.4% overall. Patrick is averaging 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting 39.8% overall.
On defense, Jerald Colonel is averaging 2.7 blocks while sitting at 11th in the nation in blocking percentage.
Opponents are having a nightmare trying to find points against the Lumberjacks, which is represented by final scores as just four teams have broken 70+ points against Stephen F. Austin.
Can the Lumberjacks return to the NCAA Tournament? Can they regain that title of a true Bracket Buster once again?
@mcuban Confirmed accurate as I was a season ticket holder at that time. The dunk 3 pt were at AAC - and the gm was as ATT- was bitterly cold in dfw that day but great to see @swish41 represent the city!
@gkketch Regardless you put it out there lost he called u out - and it’s for the kids so it’s a good cause - just saying bet welching is the lowest form in gambling. When he says just send it to boys and girls club and still excuses just bad look - but you do you I gave my .02
@gavindawson No issue with pulling otter he played poor majority of series but if u call him out feel free to look in mirror cause while u have made 6 of 7 WCF u in same boat in getting over hump - if he showed some any accountability for his shortcoming probably diff story
@TheMooreyShow@dph_stfu@Jared_Carrabis You sign him long term then what 18 mths later u sign another 3b not about being a headcase all about being mentally in game some people can Dh only some can’t - also said 3b 3 yrs older and Devers was ur franchise player
Before we officially move on to the Sean Miller era I would be remiss not to share a few parting thoughts on Rodney Terry.
I'll start here:
What he did with that Elite 8 team was nothing less than exceptional.
Beard's team this, Beard's team that. You don't simply waltz into the Elite 8. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Rodney Terry was the man for the moment.
I'll always remember the way he loved his players, the way his players rallied behind him. I'll remember the way he saved basketball for Dylan Disu.
Texas was right to move on from Terry. The program was stale and the coaching just wasn't good enough. But make no mistake, he WAS setup to fail. Middling NIL support is tough to overcome for ANY coach. And Sean Miller, hopefully, won't face that same challenge.
For RT to succeed at Texas he was going to have to be so exceptional that he could completely flip the narrative and prove to the entire fanbase and the administration that he could, at some point, deliver a national championship.
And, as a head coach, Rodney Terry was not exceptional. At times he was good, but never exceptional.
All that to say, I think Rodney Terry deserves the utmost respect. He was put in a nearly impossible situation and handled himself with class, delivered some magical moments and ultimately delivered 4 tournament wins in 2 years, which is more than the previous 12 years combined.
It's been a rough go for him on this app but I sincerely hope Texas fans remember him fondly and show him the respect and admiration I believe he deserves.
I will always remember him for moments like this:
