Be aware; while the assembly is +/- 0.01mm in repeatability, the reality of calipers like this, or any handheld metrology instrument, is that operator variability absolutely nukes the device's base accuracy. Yes, you feel like a human CMM because you throw a gauge pin between the faces and get the correct reading, that doesn't mean you can rely on that accuracy when you're leaning into a machine and trying to measure a skinny sliver of a critical face wet with coolant.

Actual metrology labs run on something called TUR, total uncertainty ratio where they account for all the variances in a measurement to show how confident they are in how gear is used real world. For reference, a brand new, freshly calibrated Zeiss CMM, in a controlled environment, has a base error of +/- 1.3µm + 1µm UM for every 100mm of travel. Most would consider this a TUR of 4:1 - taking into account all the variables, we are basically 100% confident in a +/- 5.2µm measurement with this CMM. We can make that smaller, but we need to start documenting our exact process, checking that process against other instruments, and justifying why we think we're doing better than 4:1.

When handheld instruments like digital calipers get involved, I think most metrology experts would argue the base TUR ratio compared to the Mitutoyo +/- 0.01" repeatability spec is more like 10:1. You ask 10 different people (trained machinists or metrology experts) to measure features with hand calipers, you will get 10 different answers - all very close, but nowhere near the specified 0.01mm accuracy. Easily becomes 15:1 when using the little top jaws to hit an ID measurement (notoriously inaccurate).

So when you see me talking smack about calipers - precision guestimators! - that is why. They are a fantastic and important tool, but it does not take a very deep dive down the metrology rabbit hole to find out they are extremely (extremely!) sloppy instruments. We use them all day long, and I am not trying to take away from how useful a tool they are, but it is super critical that users understand their limitations; many projects have failed because someone used a caliper to measure a critical dimension, confidently marked that dimension as "good," then got their ass handed to them downstream.

Das Rauchverbot im Auto ist wirklich gut für die Kinder Herr @Karl_Lauterbach aber hier mal ein paar Fakten zu Deutschland und dem Rauchen:

127.000 Menschen sterben jährlich an den Folgen des Zigarettenrauchens.

Der Anteil der 14-17 Jährigen Tabakraucher hat sich im letzten Jahr von 8,9 auf 16% fast verdoppelt!

Demgegenüber ist Deutschland bei der Tabakkontrolle Schlusslicht in Europa.

„Die Tabakindustrie ist die einzige Branche die es erlaubt ein Produkt zu vermarkten das die Hälfte von denen tötet die es konsumieren.“

Der Einfluss der Deutschen Tabaklobby ist sehr gross;ihre enormen Verflechtungen mit der Politik unübersichtlich.

Andere Länder sind bei den Maßnahmen viel weiter: wie zB Schweden (sorry🤡) wo auch vor Clubs/Kneipen Rauchverbot gilt; das Land will schnell komplett rauchfrei (max 5%)
werden; man hat den Einfluss der Tabaklobby deutlich beschränkt. Ähnliches planen viele Europäische Länder.

‼️Der Fokus der Politik sollte auf den Jugendlichen Rauchern liegen; sie sind am anfälligsten für Beeinflussung und Werbung.

‼️Wichtigste Maßnahmen wären:
Die Tabaksteuer deutlich anheben und den (politischen) Einfluss der Tabaklobby einschränken.
Ps: Auch das „Vapen“ist keine Lösung für Jugendliche!
