Best of luck to all the participants in the Dublin City Marathon today, who are starting and finishing their race in the South Georgian Core. It's a lovely autumn day for it.

One of the ideas we suggested that Taskforce accepted was City Wardens who should:
- patrol urban core
- offer reassurance & deterrence
- power to enforce DCC byelaws
- patrol set area
- friendly face to visitors & locals
- blue hi-vis uniform & body cams

Happy birthday to our famous local resident Patrick Kavanagh, who is commentated by John Coll's much loved bronze statue on the banks of the Grand Canal.
Remembering Patrick Kavanagh born on this day 1904 - in Inniskeen, County Monaghan.
“A man innocently dabbles in words and rhymes and finds that it is his life.”
Great to see many proposals we made to the Dublin City Taskforce make it into today's report. Particularly welcome to see that actions that there is long-standing consensus on need for among city residents and businesses are finally being officially acknowledged & made mainstream
While we'd argue the city core also needs a more visible police presence @davidmcw is 100% right that Dublin needs many more residents in its core. Not having them meant the pandemic knocked the city badly. Our vision is for a large sustainable mixed-income residential community.
Few thoughts
"A year after riots focused attention on the city centre, it's clear that what Dublin city lacks most is not gardaí, it's residents. People make cities and Dublin city doesn’t have enough citizens. Boost the population & transform the city".

The new Mary Lavin Place will be a very positive addition to the area, honoring a great Irish writer, who lived on the adjacent lane for many years.
It's also great to have Wilton Park reopening after a long closure.
Our committee met with this Dublin City Centre Taskforce over the summer. Its mission was to "take a holistic view of the measures required to rejuvenate Dublin City Centre, north and south." We hope to see actions proposed to achieve this when its report is published next week.
@KarlPurdy@coffeeangel Welcome to the neighbourhood! And really well done on the restoration work - it's great to see a business taking pride in our built heritage. The very best of luck with the opening.
Some good news! The first section of barriers on the Grand Canal has come down today. More sections will follow. Thank you to @waterwaysirelan for working with us on addressing this difficult situation over recent months.
