On 27th June 2026, Shri P. Sivakumar, IFS, Member Secretary, Central Silk Board, along with Dr. S. Periyasamy, Director, CSB–CSTRI, Bengaluru, visited M/s Kadri Mills Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore. During the visit, Shri Dhamotharan Dhamu, CEO of M/s Kadri Mills Pvt. Ltd., showcased an extensive range of innovative mulberry silk-based products. The display primarily featured products designed for day-to-day wear, exclusive silk fabrics for men's apparel, designer sarees, digitally printed silk fabrics, and silk-blended products incorporating cotton, viscose, and modal fibres.
The Member Secretary appreciated the innovative product developments and advised the industry to explore the use of all varieties of silk, including Eri, Tasar, and Muga, for the development of diversified value-added products to cater to domestic as well as international markets, with a particular focus on expanding export opportunities. @csbmot@TexMinIndia

ऐसे प्रयास स्थानीय वस्त्र उद्योग को नई शक्ति दे��े के साथ-साथ भारतीय रेशम को वैश्विक बाजार में भी नई ऊंचाइयों तक पहुंचाएंगे।

On 31.05.2026, Member Secretary @csbmot Shri P. Sivakumar, IFS visited CSB-SSBS, Coonoor and reviewed the progress & activities of the station. During the visit, Dr. Arunkumar G.S. briefed him on the ongoing research & developmental activities of the station, including the maintenance & conservation of valuable mulberry germplasm resources in the field. On World Environment Day (05.06.2026), Dr. S. G. Doss, Director, CSB-CSR&TI BHP, participated in the Soil Scientist Meet 2026 at NIFT Srinagar. He presented a lead paper on soil health in mulberry cultivation, while Ms. Anamika Barman shared insights on regenerative farming.
Member Secretary, Central Silk Board @IfsSivakumar visited the Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) on 02.06.2026 and interacted with students, scientists & faculty members on recent advancements and future prospects in the silk industry & sericulture sector. During the programme, Shri Sivakumar highlighted emerging developments in sericulture, scientific innovations, sustainable silk production and the growing role of #biotechnology & modern technologies in strengthening the Indian silk sector. He also reviewed CSB-funded projects, and held discussions with scientists on collaborative research & future strategies for #sericulture development.
On 03.06.26, Dr. Pratheesh Kumar P. M., Director, CSB-CTRTI Ranchi, visited Ranchi University and met the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Saroj Sharma. Discussions were made on exploring the possibility of collaborative research projects in various aspects of tasar silk production
