@noampomsky I think it's narratively unpleasant. Outrage implies a bad situation in a good universe. Bitterness is for a bad universe that you just have to endure.
If you want to believe in a good universe, bad-universe people are existentally upsetting. Even more so when they're justified.
@yoshikischmitz@chatur_shalabh For a while Chrome on Android did this; every tab was a window in the app switcher. I kinda liked it, but eventually they changed it back.
@vgr Or performative doubt-hacking. What better way to convince yourself of something than act as if it's true and see whether you get away with it?
I think there's a certain personality type that doesn't even see the difference between that kind of truth and the regular kind.
@utotranslucence I usually think of writing as being for the benefit of the thing I'm writing about. If I believe an idea or argument deserves a fair shot then I want to represent it well enough to give it that shot. Being right in that sense is more about justice than correctness.
