Science is imperfect but it's self-correcting.
At every step of the way to impose more stringent oversight/regulation on pharmaceutical companies the political right has shouted "too much government."

@TamarHaspel They frequently have @AthleticBrewing at runs/tris I go to - have to say I can’t tell the difference between this and alcoholic beer. Awesome brand, even better beer!
@BioLayne I’ve been a long time ON Gold-standard Whey customer, but love your work and all the info you provide. Would be interested in switching to your product - pros v. ON?
@doctorinigo I appreciate winter quite a bit, mostly because I believe it makes me so thankful for the other seasons. However, do wish we saw more sun in these Wisconsin winters!
LLMs do *not* capture much of human thought, because most of human thought and all of animal thought is entirely non verbal.
The factual, logical, and physical reasoning mistakes that current LLMs make clearly show that they have *not* captured much of human thought.

Using the life-threatening collapse of a pro athlete to push completely unfounded anti-vax theories is both unsubstantiated on the facts and morally grotesque.
@GarettJones Consider the criminal justice system. >90% of cases plead out, no jury trial (and jury trials are a check on government overreach). A jury trial is far more democratic than prosecutorial plea deals, yet we gladly let prosecutors - i.e., elites - handle ‘justice’.
@asymmetricinfo It would be nice if every paper included a “how my conclusions could be wrong” section. This would be helpful not only for the reader, but also for the writer.
@mungowitz@radleybalko Jury trials were supposed to expose citizens to this corruption, but those are virtually non-existent. An important check on the police state has been removed, how else can we change incentives? HT @ConLawWarrior.
@GarettJones Does anyone have a definition of ‘elite’ that isn’t entirely vague? Discourse around ‘elite’ seems to collapse into the Sorites paradox where the only line of demarcation is that the elites is not the person speaking (even they though are an elite).
