Trying to preserve their political role in an area they had colonised believing that it is necessary for retaining their great power status.

Otherwise they will shrink more and more into a mere European power.

These dialogues are a means to condition think tank participants and high ranking military figures and diplomats into accepting the legitimacy of UK’s interest in focusing on issues in South Asia and providing agenda inputs.

Makes the UK seen as a major beneficent power.

We should find a way to move out of this kind of British patronage.

Can one imagine an Indian think tank regularly organising a European Dialogue with similar high level participation of European think tanks and military and diplomatic figures?

Wanted to teach him a lesson in civic sense, but I stopped myself because getting home safely is more important than teaching a random stranger morality. Reality is, civic sense can only be taught where people are willing to listen, in a moral society. Smartest choice is to stay invisible, earn more and build a life where you move up the economic ladder so you and your family can have safer spaces to avoid such people.
