American went into an imaging center at Stanford to get an MRI

She just received the bill, it’s $34,000…. For one MRI…

The imagining center bills as if it’s a hospital, even though it doesn’t say hospital on the sign. Just getting an MRI here you are also billed for “hospital fees”

I looked into this and it’s definitely separate from the hospital

- Stanford Medicine Imaging Center at 451 Sherman Ave, Palo Alto is a Stanford Health Care site
- Stanford’s own pages brand it as an “imaging center” offering MRI and CT
- The main hospital at 300 Pasteur Drive

But because it’s part of the “hospital system” they are billing as if they’re a hospital and adding on all these fees

Under current federal rules, off-campus HOPDs more than 250 yards from the main hospital can still bill as hospital outpatient

Doctors are hardballed and cucked so often because from the moment a candidate enters medical school, they are buck broken into accepting that they are being given a privilege to be trained in and practice something by the system. The virtue of being a physician was hijacked and used against us.

In reality, the "system" owns you from M1 till you're an attending, makes you go six figures into debt while providing an absurd amount of labor and while holding a gun to your career if you don't bend the knee and accept having zero power or recourse. And even when you're an attending you're expected to just bend over and "do the right thing" while mainting ALL responsibility while every other part of the healthcare system gets to advocate for themselves.

Dr. Lawrence-Reid being told "only nurses get overtime" highlights the situation well. Nurses have immense power, doctors are cucked. If a licensed, board certified MD or DO wanted to work as an RN, he would have to go to nursing school. Nurses wanted to enter "physician territory" and all they had to do was invent some little "bridge program" that could be completed in 1-2 years, half online.

Things are slowly cracking though. More docs are realizing this cuckery and are opting out, which is leading to systems like locums, direct patient care, concierge, cash practice taking hold.
