An unfortunate problem with the MIAA opt out option in the football playoffs is that when you have an odd amount of teams left, someone is left without a game. This morning at the matchup meeting, that one school, selected from a random draw, is Marshfield. They have no game this week unless 1) one of the teams that opted out agrees to play 2) a team from Rhode Island or NH agrees to play or 3) an ISL school agrees to play. The Scituate/Duxbury state championship game was an instant classic last night. Duxbury is our arch rival, of course, but for Lemieux (one of the best DL in the state) to offer this quote with such insight moments after a last-second loss on that stage…major respect to him.

Said an FBS special teams coordinator once in a coaching clinic: "You tell me one of your guys blocked 5 or more kicks in his career, I'm interested. You've gotta be a DUDE to pull that off."

Junior RB Jack Marini set the school record for carries in a season (160), topping the 141 Luke Poirier tallied in 2007. Jack is a workhorse, unselfish, as happy to block as to run or catch. He totaled 1,011 all-purpose yards for the season and led the league in RB TDs (16).

Junior RB Jason O'Keefe quietly passed Danny Dalton's school record for receiving yards in a season (766 in 2014) last week vs. CM.

In today's final game, Jason O'Keefe's 2 receiving TD's give him 12 on the season, passing Danny Dalton's school record 11 from 2015.

Owen Masterson tied the school record he already shares with Jack Masterson & Steve Ruisi for TD passes in a game (4).

In the process, Owen Masterson set a new school record for TD passes in a season (27), besting the 25 his brother Jack threw in 2015.
