इज़राइल और फ़िलिस्तीन हिंसा के जिस भँवर में फँसे हैं वह इतना सीधा नहीं है।

हिटलर के आतंक से त्रस्त यहूदियों ने जब इज़राइल में बसना शुरू किया तो वहाँ रह रहे फ़िलिस्तीनियो के साथ वही किया जो हिटलर ने उनके साथ किया था। गाँव के गाँव उजाड़े गये, हज़ारों लोगों की नृशंस हत्या हुई और यह सब आज भी जारी है।

पूरा पश्चिमी जगत इस पाप में भागीदार है। इज़राईल किसी दैत्य की तरह निगलता गया फ़िलिस्तीन को हथियारों और पश्चिम के समर्थन के दम पर।

अहिंसक आंदोलनों को बेरहमी से कुचला गया। यासर अराफ़ात ताउम्र दरबदर ही रहे। नतीज़ा यह कि बर्बर हमास के हाथ में आ गया नेतृत्व। हिंसा और हिंसा…उस इलाक़े का यही सच बनता चला गया।

गांधीजी ने कहा था हिंसा के दम पर बनी व्यवस्था को बनाये रखने के लिए और अधिक हिंसा की ज़रूरत होती है।
