In defense of Indian 🇮🇳 democracy!

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi most successful visit to Norway a minor incident happened. A Norwegian journalist demanded that the prime minister starts holding press conferences. She claimed that Indian democracy is in bad shape.

May be its time to pause? May be its time to be a bit curious to the world’s largest democracy?

Two weeks ago five Indian states and territories held elections. The turn out in the battlefield state of West Bengal was 94%. In the last local election in Norway it was 62%, in many European local elections turn out is below 50%. Can voting in massive numbers be a signal Indians trust their democratic process?

In the same election BJP won big in Assam and West Bengal. It lost even bigger in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Can this diversity be a signal that Indian democracy is reflecting the will of the people?

The journalist referred to a democracy ranking putting India at 157 in the world, behind many dictatorships and deeply troubled states. When a ranking is so obviously contrary to common sense, why not ask critical questions to those making the ranking rather than demand that leaders shall comment on nonsense? I recommend Salvatore Babones book “Dharma democracy”. The book debunks convincingly the flawed methodology of these rankings.

It was referred to a ranking claiming it’s very dangerous to be a journalist in India. Reality is that it is more dangerous to be journalist in the US and far more dangerous in the vast majority of other nations in the world.

Let’s be real. India is not perfect. Of course there are incidents. India has a population the size of North America, South America and Europe combined. But India is much more peaceful than Europe or the Americas. That’s remarkable - given the ethnic, language and religious diversity of India and the many development challenges.

Unless we consider democracy a form of government only suited for some very small, peaceful and homogeneous Western European nations, may be we should commend Indian democracy?

India is the only major former UK colony which became and has remained a democracy. Its sometimes claimed that the Brits taught India democracy. If that was the case why isn’t Myanmar or Pakistan or the Gulf kingdoms democracies??? Reality is that Indian democracy is both homegrown and extraordinary successful.

I am amongst the voice of the opposition in INDIA & everyday I attack the government on television & social media, am severely critical of the PM & his ministers and no one has ever taken any action against me. I find it offensive you compare my country's press freedom with Emirates or Cuba ! Sure all INDIAN's would want even greater freedom of speech but your comparison of freedom of media in INDIA being comparable with regimes that police FoS is absolutely false & unfortunate! Polski naukowiec napisał ciekawą pracę - i nie bójmy się nazwać jej przełomową. Przez setki lat matematyka miała dziesiątki “podstawowych” funkcji jak sinus, cosinus, logarytm, pierwiastek, eksponenta. Znacie to ze szkoły. Wiadomo o co chodzi. Fizyk z Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego właśnie pokazał, że to wszystko jeden operator: E(x, y) = exp(x) - ln(y), oraz 1.

Sin, cos, π - wszystko z tego pięknie wynika, wystarczy odpowiednio zagnieździć. Natura ukryła najprostszy możliwy zapis rzeczywistości. I znaleźliśmy go przez przypadek. Całość jest piękna i wspaniała, a słowo „przełomowe” nie stanowi tu marketingowego buzzworda.

आठवें वेतन आयोग से जुड़ी एक महत्वपूर्ण जानकारी साझा कर रहा हूं। नेशनल काउंसिल (JCM) के सेक्रेटरी के रूप में हमारी ओर से आठवें वेतन आयोग को तय समय सीमा से काफी पहले आज मेमोरेंडम भेज दिया गया है।

बढ़ती महंगाई और जीवन की आवश्यकताओं को ध्यान में रखते हुए कई अहम मांगें रखी गई हैं। इनमें फिटमेंट फैक्टर 3.833 प्रस्तावित किया गया है। इसी के आधार पर न्यूनतम वेतन ₹18000 के स्थान पर अब ₹69,000 करने का और अधिकतम वेतन ₹2,15,000 रखने का प्रस्ताव दिया गया है।

इसके साथ ही, फैमिली यूनिट को 5 करने की मांग की गई है। इस बार एक महत्वपूर्ण बदलाव के रूप में पुरुष और महिला की यूनिट वैल्यू में असमानता को समाप्त करते हुए दोनों को समान रूप से एक-एक यूनिट देने का प्रस्ताव रखा गया है। साथ ही, माता-पिता को भी फैमिली यूनिट में शामिल करने की मांग की गई है।

सालाना वेतन वृद्धि के लिए 6% की मांग भी रखी गई है।

अधिकतम कर्मचारियों को अधिक लाभ पहुंचाने के मकसद से पे स्केल में संरचनात्मक बदलाव का सुझाव दिया गया है। प्रस्ताव के अनुसार, वर्तमान पे स्केल 2 और 3 को मिलाकर नया पे स्केल 2 बनाया जाए। इसी प्रकार, पे स्केल 4 और 5 को मर्ज कर नया पे स्केल 3 बनाने का सुझाव दिया गया है। वर्तमान पे स्केल 6 को संशोधित कर पे स्केल 4 में परिवर्तित करने का प्रस्ताव है, जबकि पे स्केल 7 और 8 को मिलाकर नया पे स्केल 5 बनाने की मांग रखी गई है।

इसके साथ ही, वर्तमान पे स्केल 9 और 10 को मर्ज कर नया पे स्केल 6 बनाने का भी प्रस्ताव दिया गया है। इन बदलावों का मकसद वेतन संरचना को सरल बनाना और अधिक से अधिक कर्मचारियों को इसका लाभ सुनिश्चित करना है।

इनके अलावे महिलाओं औऱ पेंशनभोगियों के हितों का ख्याल रखते हुये भी कई महत्वपूर्ण प्रस्ताव दिये गये हैं। यह सभी प्रस्ताव कर्मचारियों के हितों को मजबूत करने और उनकी आर्थिक स्थिति को बेहतर बनाने के उद्देश्य से दिए गए हैं।

હમણાં નાયબ મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી હર્ષભાઈ દાવોસ ખાતે વર્લ્ડ ઇકોનોમિક ફોરમમાં છે. હર્ષભાઈ ત્યાં ફલૂએન્ટ અંગ્રેજીમાં સંબોધન કરે છે અને વિવિધ વૈશ્વિક ઉધોગપતિઓ સાથે પણ ફલૂએન્ટ અંગ્રેજીમાં વાતચીત કરે છે. ઘણા લોકએ પોજીટીવલી તેં વિડિઓ શેર કર્યો તો ઘણા લોકોએ ગોપુભાઈ જેવા લોકોને જવાબ આપવા માટે શેર કર્યો. કારણ કે ગોપુ હંમેશા હર્ષભાઈનાં અભ્યાસ પર સવાલ ઉઠાવે છે.

તો આજથી સાત આઠ વર્ષ પહેલાનાં અને આજના હર્ષભાઈમાં જમીન આસમાનનો ફર્ક છે. એવું કેમ? પહેલા હર્ષભાઈ બોલે તો તૂટેલી ગુજરાતી, તૂટેલી હિંદી અને અંગ્રેજી તો કોઈ દિવસ બોલતા કોઈએ સાંભળ્યા જ નહોતા. આજે એજ હર્ષભાઈ વર્લ્ડ ઇકોમોનિક ફોરમમાં જાય અને સ્પષ્ટ વાત મૂકે, એ જ હર્ષભાઈ કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સ માટે ભારત તરફથી પોતાનો સ્પષ્ટ પક્ષ મૂકે, આજે એ જ હર્ષભાઈ ઇન્ડિયા ટુડેનાં કોંકલેવમાં હિંદીમાં સ્પષ્ટ વાત મૂકે. આજે એજ હર્ષભાઈ તમામ રાષ્ટ્રીય મુદ્દા પર અને સ્થાનિક મુદ્દા પર સ્પષ્ટ મત મૂકે, આજે એજ હર્ષભાઈ યુવાઓને પણ સંબોધે, વડીલોને પણ સંબોધે અને એક જ લીટીમાં તમામ સમાજનાં દિલ જીતી લે!

આવું કઈ રીતે શક્ય બને? આવું ત્યારે બને જયારે વ્યક્તિ પોતાની ખામીઓ સ્વીકારીને તેના પર કામ કરવાનું ચાલુ કરે. છેલ્લા પાંચ વર્ષમાં હર્ષભાઈએ પોતાના પર ખુબ કામ કર્યું છે. પોતાની વૈચારિક ધાર કેવીરીતે મજબૂત કરવી, વિવિધ ભાષાઓ સમજવી, સમસ્યાને સમજતા શીખવું વગેરે. હર્ષભાઈ ધારતે તો જેમ ગોપુભાઈ જ્યાં હોય ત્યાં પોતે મરેલા ચપ્પલને ડિફેન્ડ કરે તેમ હર્ષભાઈ પણ પોતાની ખામીઓને ડિફેન્ડ કરી શકતે. પણ તેમણે ડિફેન્ડ કરવાનો સરળ નહીં પણ પોતાની જાતને અપડેટ કરવાનો કઠિન માર્ગ પસંદ કર્યો.

દેવાધિદેવ મહાદેવને પ્રાર્થના કરું છું કે તમે હર્ષભાઈને વધુને વધુ શક્તિ આપો જેથી તેઓ પોતે નક્કી કરેલું જનકલ્યાણનું લક્ષ પૂરું પાડી શકે.
