A suggestion if it's not already being done. One thing India can do now in infowar is:

Talk to some small countries,

- who run globally influential state media,
- but at home run dictatorships,
- do not allow any protests,
- and if there are protests crush them brutally

To not publish any fake news on protests in India

To not create one sided news of "police violence"

To not act as DS media working for some powers

To not let their state media be used for anti-India and subversive propaganda against India

It can be done in Delhi calling their relevant people to MEA. Or taken up by India's embassies in respective countries. I'm sure govt knows how to do it best.

Because we can clearly see the state media of many countries, big and small, seem fully infiltrated by India's adversaries and are publishing blatantly fake news on India and do continuous negative coverage of India.

This is something I had been pointing to for years on this platform. But OpSindoor time, a year ago, was the wake up call when everyone in India saw the level of infiltration and influence India's adversaries had on every global media.

And on these current protests, it pains to see these state media from even small nations do a one-sided coverage and publish blatantly fake news of "protests not being allowed", "brutal crackdown", "no press freedom", etc.

Now, if India doesn't even ask small dictatorial countries, who in their own nations never allow protests and crackdown with an iron hand on any dissent, how will it take on the state media of larger democracies?

If not already done, India must at the least ask them nicely. Point to them the dynamics of the protests, the anarchy being unleashed, show them the biased coverage, and just request them to be fair in coverage and not allow their media to act as agents of DS.

I am sure they will oblige. I do not think their govts are actively planning anything against India. But their state media all seem to be.

If they won't take action and prove their state backs such propaganda against India, India can gently remind them that as a $4.5 trillion economy, a military power, a country that can rapidly build capabilities to do infowar itself, has options.

Also, I believe this is the right time to set up a social media & media monitoring, research, and rapid response cell (SMM cell) if not already done.

And also India needs to mandate SM companies to provide a reporting tool for every piece of content that helps Indians directly submit reports to this SMM cell's database for surfacing intel and taking action.

Mesopotamia was never the cradle of civilisation. India was.

I spent forty years in international shipping, not academia. When I began researching the history of maritime trade, I had no orthodoxy to defend. I followed the evidence, and it kept arriving in the same place: the Indian subcontinent.

Nineteenth century archaeologists dug in Mesopotamia because the climate preserved artefacts, the biblical sources pointed them there, and the Ottomans allowed the excavations. That is the entire basis for the myth of Mesopotamia as "the cradle of civilisation."

Nobody applied the same rigour to India. Mohenjo-daro was not discovered until 1922. By then the narrative had already hardened.

What was actually there was the largest civilisation of the ancient world. Three hundred cities. Fifty thousand people in each, by 2600 BC. Two thirds of them stood on the banks of the Sarasvati, the central and greatest of the seven rivers described in the Rig Veda, flowing down from the Himalayas before the river vanished entirely by 1900 BC. The Vedic kings claimed territory stretching "sea to sea," from Afghanistan to Maharashtra, some 1.5 million square miles, against Egypt's 13,000. A dock at Lothal built to handle thirty ships of sixty tons, unmatched in Europe for four thousand years. When it was first excavated, it was recorded as a bathing pool.

When the scale became impossible to dismiss, the theory was not corrected. It was replaced with a story of pale-skinned nomads from the steppe who supposedly arrived around 1500 BC and brought civilisation with them. There is no evidence. The chronology doesn't work. The Vedas describe no invasion.

In 2019 a Harvard-led genetic study revived the claim, and the press reported it as confirmation. It was not. The same study found the builders of these cities were indigenous. The Sarasvati river that the Rig Veda described had already dried up before these newcomers arrived. What the study also found is that a small group of men, arriving after the Sarasvati had already dried up, interbred with the existing population and left a genetic signature. That is all.

So, where they chose to dig was mostly an accident of climate and access. The Aryan invasion theory was constructed because an Indian civilisation that owed nothing to Caucasians was a fact the late nineteenth century could not accommodate.

Our public sphere is digital, even for the so-called mofussil towns. And it is completely controlled by US Big Tech, which as far as other countries go, is an extension of the US govt or state. The American people maybe by and large nice, the US constitution maybe great but the US explicitly sees India as a long-term threat only after China. Their serving officials have said as much.

It boggles the mind then that we have allowed our society, our politics, our very emotions to be manipulated by foreign addictive algorithms. Our economies to be hollowed out by others' scale, though it is still not late. The least we can do immediately is what many countries around the world have done: banning social media platforms for under-16 kids.

Then we need to have a calm discussion. When TikTok was banned, Insta created reels etc and the content creators could monetise their work there. If Insta gets banned, an Indian platform will rise. It absolutely will. But without a market, nobody will easily put up money. This is both an economics and a national security argument.

In a slightly different but related context of AI, I was reading about CXMT: the great Chinese HBM/DRAM company which came out of seemingly nowhere. But it did not come out of nowhere. The Chinese government gave it billions. Then more crucially it gave it a guaranteed market by getting Chinese Big Tech (which itself was created by partially blocking US Big Tech) route orders to CXMT.

Then they bought a bankrupt German company in the field and got all the IP, even if slightly dated. Then they hired like crazy. No individual step was rocket science. But collectively it was nothing but magic. The Chinese have the scale and they have ruthlessly exploited it. Kudos to them. Like the Americans did against the British or Germans earlier, or later against the Japanese.

Let us take ourselves seriously for a change. We are the largest polity on Earth. Our ancestors created these invisible bonds of fraternity, beautifully if imperfectly over millennia, so that today we can even think of boasting of such latent scale. But no ship is worth even its mast if it is only in its harbour. It is time for us to sail.

It was a much bigger protest than most of us anticipated. I think for a moment, even the govt might have been caught off guard.

So, hats off to the Aam Aadmi Party. These guys understand mass psychology, especially youth psychology, better than most other politicians, and they know how to manipulate it and use it to their advantage. Even Congress, a much larger party with more resources and experience, cannot mobilize this kind of protest.

Also, this event again exposes the BJP’s ongoing vulnerability in the modern info-war. They fail to recognize a fundamental truth: the youth are inherently anti-establishment, aggressive, and driven by cultural trends. If a protest is perceived as "cool" and culturally dominant, participation explodes because joining becomes a way to signal belonging and status. You cannot counter this energy with outdated hashtags or by reminding the youth how bad things were under previous regimes. That historical comparison means nothing to a generation that never lived through it. The youth do not judge a govt against its past; they judge it against their own expectations for the future.

To fix this, the most important thing is BJP must aggressively reform its communication machinery. Fire the absolute dinosaurs running their digital strategy, those pre-2014 social media relics are still trapped in a time capsule, utterly clueless about the modern internet. These digital fossils don't understand anything beyond spamming robotic IT-cell hashtags and forcing artificial trends that everyone sees right through. In their place, the party must hire actual youth who live and breathe modern internet culture to build organic, decentralized narratives.

Its not my job to defend the Government but i will not shy away from calling out this charade of CJP & other protests that are foreign funded and have ulterior agendas. Have studied these patterns many times over decade and half from Ukraine Maidan riots, to Arab Spring to Gen Z in Nepal to Coup in Dhaka.
