This Is Not a Film About 19th-Century Slavery... It’s a Crime Happening Now at the Hands of the UAE-Backed Rapid Support Militia
A horrifying video has emerged showing members of the UAE-backed Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed) torturing a man who appears to be a civilian, suspected of being affiliated with the Sudanese Armed Forces or Joint Forces.
In the footage, the militia stops a pickup truck and forces the driver to park it directly on the victim’s chest — a brutal method clearly intended to inflict maximum pain. Despite the man's visible agony, the assailants continue shouting humiliating commands at him.
“Say the Rapid Support Militia are brave... say they defeated you... say the army is weak,” they demand, turning the man’s suffering into a spectacle of degradation.
This is not a movie trying to tell us about slavery in the old days.
This is reality — happening now — carried out by a militia that uses humiliation and cruelty as a weapon of war, under the watch of the international community.
What we saw in this video is not a dramatic scene — it’s a real crime being committed against unarmed civilians, simply because they are suspected of supporting the army or refusing to submit.
Slavery has returned in a new form — a militia parking vehicles on people’s chests and forcing them to praise their oppressors.
The video is yet another piece of evidence of the systematic brutality practiced by the Janjaweed militia against civilians in Sudan, with complete impunity.
It exposes the militia’s mentality of terror and public humiliation toward anyone suspected of supporting the national army — a deliberate effort to crush morale and spread fear among the population.
