Electrical Engineer → Software Engineer → Entrepreneur. Documenting the journey of building financial freedom, buying back my time, and putting family first.
Let me reintroduce myself.
I'm a senior software engineer who has worked fully remote for the last 7 years.
Today, I'm helping train a team of 20 overseas engineers, fully aware that one of them could replace me tomorrow.
That's not bitterness. It's reality.
The reason I value remote work isn't working in sweatpants.
It's family.
I get to drop my kids off at school in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon.
Most opportunities I see would require giving that up and spending 2–3 hours a day in DFW traffic.
I wasn't willing to bet my family's future on a job that could disappear overnight.
So I built a side business.
Today it generates about $9,000/month in revenue and $4,000–$6,000/month in profit.
But for years, I was stuck in classic analysis paralysis.
Then I found @ShannonJean through the Korner Office podcast.
He runs a $5/month mastermind with 3,000+ resellers who openly share wins, losses, mistakes, and real numbers.
So I stopped overthinking and spent the $5.
My first Costco liquidation auction from @bstocksol cost $1,700.
Inside:
- Pressure washers
- Ice machines
- Water cooler/dispenser
- And a pile of other returns
I sold everything on Facebook Marketplace.
→ Got my money back in 2 weeks
→ Doubled my investment in 5 weeks
I was hooked.
Since then:
22 Costco liquidation auctions won
Hundreds of items sold
Furniture, appliances, rugs, lighting, luggage, exercise equipment, and more
Operated entirely from my garage and a single 10x30 storage unit
Today is Day 44 of documenting the journey publicly.
My next challenge is live selling on TikTok and Whatnot.
The goal isn't to get rich.
The goal is freedom.
To build something that can replace my tech salary before my tech salary disappears on its own.
No office.
No boss.
No anxiety about the next round of layoffs.
This account is where I'll share the journey:
Real auctions . Real numbers . Real wins . Real mistakes.
Zero guru fluff.
If you're in tech—or any 9-to-5—and building something on the side, I'd love to hear what you're working on.

@Bkryan23 You got that right. It's a Massive opportunity. DM me if you have a question. Follow @kip_roland. He is a friend of mine & my mentor on live-selling.

@JDPCollective Shipping rugs is not going to be easy. I bought four pallets of food. Start with that. Once I become a seasoned seller, I'll take it from there what's next?
I'm stressed about a ton of things that still need to be done before my first TikTok Live selling show.
But there's a big carnival in town.
The business can wait.
I'm taking the kids to the carnival.
The inventory will still be there tomorrow. They won't be little forever.
@kip_roland The irony. 😄
I would message:
Even though I'm always firm on my price, when I got an offer from someone with the username, I couldn't turn it down. We've got a deal.
...Just kidding. My price is firm.
@ShannonJean Perfect for that kind of work. I first saw one being used to prune grapevines at a vineyard on Long Island. You really have to watch your fingers—it gives me anxiety just watching someone use it.
I just beat ChatGPT AND the official LG service manual with one move.
I bought a Costco return lot to flip, and one of the dryers had a blown thermal fuse. So I asked ChatGPT how to get to it.
ChatGPT: "First, disassemble the entire rear panel, remove 47 screws, disconnect the belt, lift the drum, and perform a blood sacrifice to the appliance gods..."
Me: removes the exhaust vent
ChatGPT: "WAIT. NO. THAT'S GENIUS. Why didn't I think of that — yes, 100% the smartest way. You have defeated me and the official LG manual in one move."
Moral of the story: Sometimes $852 billion of AI needs a guy with a wrench to remove one pipe.
Fun fact: my entire liquidation-and-reselling business would need to generate roughly $1 million in profit every day for about 2.3 million years to equal $852 billion. 😄
