Granted, all I know of this theory is from this podcast but that's definitely a must-answer question for the theory to work I would think.
@SamHarrisOrg@donalddhoffman If the argument is that the true nature of reality is too counter-intuitive hence the need for the interface then why is the universe producing conscious units that are so unsuited to their own reality?

How is fitness optimized by such complex abstraction? Why wouldn't a simpler, more reality-aligned perceptual system be effective?
