Sometimes I think we get the order messed up. We think if we do good things, then we’ll get close to Jesus.
It doesn’t work that way though.
If we get close to Jesus then we’ll do good things. Jesus is the root and obedience is the fruit. Not the other way around.
3. Posture > Platform
If your posture before God is not one of humility, worship, and desperation for Him, then you may give a good talk on a platform but it will likely be out of your own strength and not His
“For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” -Mt. 12:34
Something I’m trying to ask myself more and more these days... what are my words saying about the condition of my heart?
long-term thinking is something I’ve been working on lately...
direction and not desire is what gets us to our destination.
long-term improvement is better than a sudden surge.
this is a marathon not a sprint.
we pray a lot for circumstances to change... sometimes I think the better prayer is for God to change us in the circumstance. to pray not to miss what God has for us in the middle of what we’re going through
I never want to miss God in a moment because He doesn’t work how I ‘m asking Him to. It’s not about me.
we can’t let what we’re asking God to do make us miss what He’s actually doing.
God is big enough to handle even the small things in your life.
We’re quick to bring the big things to Him, but the small, everyday things are just as important.
He wants it all. He loves you that much
sometimes we experience things in the valley that we never would have learned on the mountain tops
embrace the struggle. it’ll get better. learn from it
even if God never did another thing for us and we never saw His hand in our lives ever again, He would still be worthy of our lives because of what He’s already done for us
if you ever feel like God has forgotten about you just look back... see how He’s had you the whole time
If He’s done it before why wouldn’t He do it again
don’t get so caught up in trying to do great things for God that we forget to just do things for a great God... He wants the mundane everyday just as much as the big moments
