@CjGazerro @secupp I’ll repeat since you don’t get it. The high tariffs apply only above a tariff free quota, never exceeded and therefore never applied. On defence, the US is the only country that invaded Canada, and they need us via NORAD and the north for their own security. Defence is mutual.

@MassholePundit @MarkJCarney Another talking point paster. Canada is the 4th largest Aluminum producer in the world and doesn’t need Chinese imports. It imposes 25% tariffs on Chinese steel and Aluminum already. USMCA has strict proof of origin requirements which Canada follows and has never been an issue

@greg_travis 2/2 Most countries including the US apply the same rules. You can even apply to the CRA to defer payment. Canada has many issues with their tax system, but requiring people who are exiting to pay taxes they owe is not one of them

@greg_travis 1/2 Why this is so hard to comprehend? Realized capital gains is treated as taxable income with a preferential inclusion rate of 50%. When you leave and declare to the CRA you won’t return, you are deemed to have realized your gains. No you haven’t paid taxes on these gains
