Everyone was there at #Longhua #Temple for the tree: #银杏 a #Gingko. It was lovely and amusing. The sun glittering silvery gold on the leaves. #Shanghai life. #上海 #龙华寺

You can get a wonderful, mushroom filled bowl of noodles at #Longhua #temple, along with pickled veg and some kind of tofu. The line was a few hundred metres long. You scan & self-pay at the table. 15 rmb for the noodles, 10 rmb for the pickled veg and tofu. #Shanghai

Taxi driver is talkative here in #Hangzhou Not really following the loud conversation my wife’s having with him. But he emphasised his working class background. Doesn’t travel except to go see a certain singer: #刀郎 Dao Lang. He sings for the poor, apparently. Here’s his flask.

Other books are on hold. Arundhati’s new book is out. I kind of idolise her. It’s not only that she was so good looking as a young author, or that she’s rebellious, tough, and intelligent. She has that insight that goes beyond the mediocrity of the intelligentsia. #arundhatiroy
