We commend Investigator Harly Amy, Deputy Braydon Finecy, and Deputy Gordon Cudaback for representing us at the 36th Annual Candlelight Vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC.
This year, Investigator Harly Amy's discovery brought to light the brave sacrifices of two Buffalo County Law Enforcement Officers who lost their lives in service: Deputy Sheriff Willis Daggett and Night Marshal Orren Eatherton.
Deputy Willis Daggett, End of Watch January 20, 1930: Deputy Daggett tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in a vehicle crash while en route to serve a warrant. Despite his injuries, he showed incredible resilience, walking to seek help before passing away. He served with us for only nine months, leaving behind a wife and five children.
Marshal Orren Eatherton, End of Watch March 29, 1956: Marshal Eatherton lost his life in a pursuit-related vehicle crash. His dedication to duty and bravery in the face of danger will always be remembered. He served with the Shelton Police Department for two years, leaving behind family and loved ones.
