@RhythmDoc01@poiThePoi While i've occasionally regretted this in short term situations when money gets tight, in the long term this has served me well.
my last car which i bought new, lasted me almost 20 years until engine started failing. got 500$ for it at trade in, which is 500 more than i expected
@Kara_Creates I've yet to hit hmart, tho many have suggested it to me, only been to li mings in durham. This has been a great book, and a good okonomiyaki recipe too. I've also done the homemade dashi, which will make your home smell like the beach all day.
@DJSnM i remember years ago listening to a "classic rock" streaming station while working, and it would play like... tom petty, roy orbison and then STP... go back to like some eagles, doobie brothers, then pearl jam.
like, thanks stream, i feel like an old man now.
@BT@DanielSmidstrup Definitely a lot of AI made posts, though in my feed i get way more pro-AI ones than not. Wonder how the algo is deciding who gets the pro and who gets the anti...
@DJK1NG_Gaming I remember the announcement, at whatever convention it was. They did not once ever say it was a new console, only raved about the power of the tablet. Dont think the actual console was visible.
Honestly, i dont even remember if they ever properly clarified it was a new system.
@HoegLaw i've seen some studios use the term "iii" for highly funded indies. Maybe thats where this.. uh... "game" falls into.
Course, Dustborn got government subsidies (Norway & USA!) as well, but wouldnt call it iii, and still technically indie i think.
@HoegLaw i think game development has gotten a lot more diverse, and the term Indie isnt cutting it anymore. I would argue the average gamer believes it means self funded, and/or a group making the game part time.
I'm seeing The Expendabelles come up again this week. If you see people freaking out over this project acting like its some new travesty, remember: it has been an idea/in the works since 2012, and those people do no research on the topics at all.
@ivanrouzanov Even on new hardware, vista had too much change and yea, bugs.
I remember spending 10 minutes trying to find the network adapters window in vista for first time, and i was on the verge of tears cause it was so fucking obtuse and buried.
@ThePrimeagen They've been known to do shady things in the past, especially with locking things into their proprietary methods.
but people keep wanting to hand wave this shit cause "they so friendly to new users!"
From just last year as reference: https://t.co/IJVdgQyC3E
People also have this bad memory of how "good" a pencil works with cassette tapes. They did not work well at all. Just another drop in the ocean for things Mixtape got wrong.

@memeticsisyphus Yeah, one of the biggest blunders of that guy.
There is an old quote that i think of often:
"The average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe." -H.L. Mencken
@obscuravpn "dont be evil" was a diversion from almost the start. Reminds me of how Warren Buffet is one of those guys saying "i should be taxed more!" but in lower key interviews he brags about how his secretary pays more taxes than he does.
@ouranometrian2 Amusing part here, soyboy berating a woman saying no one will take her seriously doesnt know how to write a simple idiom correctly.
Course, since he went on a whole rant about it with countless posts, maybe he could indeed "care less."
