2026 Guardians draft pick @jake_bean07 began his VIP journey with us as a sophomore in HS.

Below are our coaching notes from each year taken at the initial VIP evaluation.

Jake Bean’s eval notes, 2020 → 2023:

2020 (10th)
• “GET BACK TO A ¾ SLOT RIGHT NOW. DON’T LET ANYONE CHANGE THIS.”
• FB sat 80 — stop cutting it
• Changeup already a plus pitch at a young age

2021 (11th)
• +8 mph on the fastball in one year
• “Smooth and quick down the mound with long, loose arms”

2022 (12th)
• Cruised 90 at sub max effort in his pen
• “There is a reason he can throw the baseball so hard… very smooth and efficient mechanics”
• Shifted to pitch design: slider (-7.5 HB) into the mid-80s, changeup built for Kent State

On top of this, he excelled on the basketball court and worked his pitching training in around basketball each year.

He then continued to develop at Kent State and Louisville⚾

It’s awesome looking back at these notes and seeing the focus shift each year.
