The S&P 500 finished up >1% the first 5 days of the year.

This could be a positive sign.

When negative? The full year is flat. This was a warning last year.

When positive, the full year is up 14% on avg and up to 15.4% on avg when up 1% or more.

When inflation is lower than the year before, the S&P 500 gained 12.6% on average.

When inflation is higher, it is up only 5.8% on average.

Very simple way to view it, but given inflation likely is lower next year this shouldn't be ignored.
