I am no longer actively using Twitter. You can find me on BlueSky, Threads, Insta - all with the same username.

@jamesrbuk The questioning on Today got right on my tits
“Do you think people are right to be annoyed about this?” she asked repeatedly and annoyingly.
(I have a small business AND I am a landlord, and I’m neither confused nor annoyed at the principle of taxing capital over labour)
@DPJHodges And Tory and Labour staffers have been volunteering on US election campaigns for decades. Plenty of Labour activists cut their teeth on the Obama campaign (less so Tories for Trump, but they certainly exist).
@DavidJ88686487@bencoates1 Also barring dual citizenship gives those of us who don’t *need* to become Dutch no reason to go through the process. I’d become Dutch in addition to others, but I’m not putting that inburgering work in just for the chance to give up my home passport.
@BestForBritain Working four days a week is quite normal here in the Netherlands. Despite that - or perhaps because of it - productivity per hr is 20-30% higher (per OECD data) and higher GDP per capita.
Unemployment rates: 🇬🇧 4.2% 🇳🇱 3.9%
@ShowerAbsolute Bought after four hours of flight delay and an entire bottle of champagne en route to Beijing. Faithful friends for years until they fell in the sea while I was paddleboarding in the Whitsundays four years later.
@ShowerAbsolute I have bought designer sunglasses because my flight was delayed and it seemed like a good idea after many champagnes in the lounge.
Fortunately it actually was a good idea and I still liked them the next day. Probably my fave sunglasses ever.

💔 Some reflections on what Twitter was, what it is now, and why I think I'm done (and it's ok to feel sad about it)

@rhymerrigby We got AC in the bedroom of our house in London as it’s in the loft and unbearably hot for weeks in the summer. And as the place was under the Heathrow flight path we couldn’t open windows at night because it was LOUD.
@JonnElledge I went on a work trip to Lisbon recently. Booked myself four days down the coast - half hour train away - in Cascais. I drank wine, ate seafood, and read books. It was great.
@nathansldennis@kirby_pj Yeah he posted about something allegedly happening in Amsterdam, and I said that it wasn’t and I know that because the place was literally outside my house. I shared a photo AND a link to the website from the builders to explain it. And his response was to block me.
@MolloyLaurence@jonas Yeah I mean in NL bills come with a QR as standard. Also to pay stuff online. You scan the QR with your phone and auth the payment in your banking app.
