My dad is the hardest working person I've ever met. He had to retire on disability two years ago at age 63 and is declining rapidly.

This has completely changed my view on work. Take your vacations now. Explore the world and never wait for retirement. You might not reach it.

Encourage your parents even while they're young and healthy to put together an advance care plan.

The speed in which my dad has declined mentally is astonishing. We all think we have more time.
