Here to help! Former teacher, school principal, and heart transplant survivor. Still a teacher geek. Also a blogger and a lifelong student of psychology!
Need a pick me up, take 3 min to read my recent struggle and good news story. I had a few DMs asking me about it after posting my last video. (thread) 1/14 RT appreciated.
On a total tangent from my normal topics. Anyone interested in WordPress Web Design - schools, clubs, personal. I've started a web design business @WEBsmallDesign (affordable for the little guys) and free advice for people who want to it themselves @WP_Wheelie :)
@ModestTeacher I homeschooled my own 2 children for 1 year as I had to give up teaching while waiting for a heart transplant - best year of my life. I'd recommend it to any teachers who are able to take time off - but I wouldn't do it >12Months - the social aspect of school is important
How reliable are professional reference ratings of teachers? How many dimensions of teacher quality can we detect based on ratings?
We ask the professional references of those submitting letters of recommendation for teacher applicants to answer Qs⬆️.
What do we find? ⬇️
@mikesalter74 @MsJasmineMN Michael - I hadn't heard this. Is it for secondary teachers with a degree in their subject area or for primary teachers as well?
I love coming back to this gem. In the foreword Wolf quotes a teacher who says the hardest thing students will learn is the first thing they must learn (reading). She also talks about the miracle of students learning in hundreds of days what took civilisations thousands of years.
Excellent piece by @AceThatTest on grade witholding as part of the feedback process, and enabling discourse on written feedback. With some significant findings which might have purpose in T & L strategies used in schools in the near future #edutwitter https://t.co/SoevRIMUB9
