What is sufficient about it?
Can we get the Chinese to build HS2? They are so fast that politicians don’t get a chance to change the plan.

@MephistoMatt2@EcofuturistUK The ripple energy turbine mentioned in the post + his solar mentioned in the pose + renewable energy from octopus mentioned in the post.
@MikeSouthWestUK@EcofuturistUK Our country really isn’t well equipped for this type of heating. Av fitted hundreds of these on the electrical side, never any problems there but the lads fitting the units are constantly getting call backs and there doesn’t seem to be a mention of his electric bill going up
In terms of running costs. Of your heat pump runs from solar and off peak energy you can make a 9 or 10x saving. Our calculated cost per unit of heat kWh is under 3p, compared to 8p for gas. We are warmer and not emitting devastating fumes. What’s not to like ?
Why are people so negative when others are leading the way to a better future ?
You can have the tank always kept at a particular temperature if you like. It won’t run out.
The heat pump will be designed for you 21 degrees, some people like a cooler house. We keep ours at 18.
Meaning the upgrade from an oil/gas boiler could be free for some.
We have moved to a heat pump this year as well and the wife couldn’t be happier. No more fumes, no more pollution, no more dangerous gases being pumped into the house, seemingly unlimited heat !!
Sounds to me like the intention was to try some new stuff, be efficient, minimise pollution over the long term and not necessarily get into his private finances. Particularly as each install is different. I believe some installers can get the whole job done inside the £7500 grant
This thread shows how USELESS these devices are. I am not sure that was the intention 😂
Why?
1: he shows no costings; not just for Heat Pump but for all new radiators AND new pipework and redecorating
2: temp is set at 19C - way too cold for most people
3: hot water is heated only twice a day; utterly impractical for a family
It’s also ugly and will likely be vandalised or parts stolen in some areas.
@ChrisKearney3@g__j A home battery can shift most of your usage to off peak, but has an up front expense, charging devices like phones and hoovers and ideally an electric car at night can make a huge difference. I also know people with heat pumps that warm
Up the home over night and less in the day
@Fluffyaslan@MartinSLewis Total cost of ownership of an ev is less than a fossil car.
The reason for the change is we can’t afford to not change to renewable energy transport.
Just a wild guess but for every £1.80 of fuel put into a fossil car we could be costing tens or hundreds of pounds of damage.
@Bethan385@suebalootweets@MartinSLewis@MoneySavingExp I wonder how they will do it. No register of who is on alternatives. And they apparently will use the electricity companies to do the refund, who also don’t know who is on oil for heating etc.
What if I invest in solar and a heat pump to heat my house, so I get the £200 ?
Hmmm
@DanielFletcher5 @MartinSLewis Should be about £5k, but we are going to cap the average at 2.5k this year, 3k ish the next year. And the difference between the 2.5k and 5k we should be paying is going to be borrowed and paid back through taxes, which will we will need to pay back along with the higher prices.
