The 1987 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps is a milestone in Formula 1 history because it marked the first time fans were given access to live, broadcasted team radio. 

Before this moment, communication between a driver and their pit wall was strictly private. Fans and television viewers had no insight into the real-time technical feedback or tactical discussions happening during a session.

The broadcast featured Ayrton Senna, then driving for Lotus-Honda, communicating with his team boss, Peter Warr. The audio captured Senna sharing his technical impressions of the track conditions during a practice/qualifying session. 

While common today, hearing a driver's voice directly from the cockpit was a revolutionary innovation in 1987. It provided an unprecedented "behind-the-curtain" look at the intensity and focus required during a qualifying lap, fundamentally changing how fans experienced the sport.
