What kind of public square aspirant removes the team focused on expanding it to as many members of the public as possible?
This makes me sick. I’m done.
I don't want to tell billionaires how they should or shouldn't use their money.
I want society to be structured in such a way that single individuals never become so wealthy as to have the power to singlehandedly alter the course of society on a whim.
It would be kinda poetic if I sent this tweet and then logged out forever. 13 years is a long time to spend on something you’re not sure is good for you.

Dug Ford's government has plenty of money for salaries, but values the wrong kinds of work
the Ontario government paints education workers as greedy for asking for an 11.5% pay increase over 3 years
by contrast, here's how the OPP describes its pay increases for new recruits
Definitely the hard part trying to find a new public square. It took Twitter soooo long for it to start showing consistent consideration of this stuff, and the apps racing to be the next public square are likely not going to focus on a11y at the jump.
It takes the kind of intention and attention that @TwitterA11y has shown to make a social media platform accessible to #disabled users. I don’t want to leave the #a11y community on Twitter for a place that excludes @HabenGirma and so so many others.
As neural networks better at chess, they become more illegible: you can't explain why they make the moves they do in words
This will happen in the world at large as we approach singularity: you won't be able to explain in words why anyone does what they do
@josephlchu I don’t disagree. I’m looking to Signal and group chats for general updates from friends (Signal stories once out of beta should help with the passive sharing desire)
It’s industry news, trends, etc. that I’m worried about losing. Newsletters may be the answer though.
Really grateful for the non-tech folks on my timeline today. I do need periodic breaks from the panic and folks trying to figure out where to go once they delete Twitter.
But also… do you know where you’re going? 😅
"Gadde did more for free speech on the internet than almost anyone else I can think of." This is going to be the hardest lesson for everyone in this whole thing: Elon is now in the business of fighting off governments around the world. https://t.co/SC2kTQq5BP
With Stadia on the way out I was seriously looking at Xbox cloud gaming for PC games. But was missing the TV angle.
Unfortunately, I’ve zero interest in connecting any smart TV, especially Samsung, to the Internet. No dongle? No deal.
One of these days, I’ll internalize the idea that if my friends deserve a clean home when they visit me, then **I too** deserve a clean home when I visit me.
If you show frustration or anger through: sighing, giving the silent treatment, or making sarcastic comments—this is a passive aggressive communication style.
You might say “I’m fine” when asked if you’re upset.
Here’s why 🧵:
