Don’t get too excited.

The proposed USD bill introduces only two main changes:

1. Recategorising tourist hotels, guesthouses and vessels, requiring them to pay $25. (For example, Kaani Guesthouse, which previously paid $500, will now fall under the $25 category.)

2. Introducing a non-tourism category, where a 25% cap applies. But this applies only if they are earning at least $20 million in revenue in USD currency. If they don't earn $20 million in revenue in USD, then this mandatory USD to MVR doesn't apply.
