25 years ago today, Apple announces it’s buying NeXT, and my reaction is “What? Those losers are buying us? They’re the only company going out of business faster than WE are.”

It worked out OK. I’m very glad I got to work with those losers.

Delurking briefly so that I can congratulate @AirCanada on the brand new Maple Leaf Lounge, which opened today at San Francisco Airport. It is spectacular. Including An outdoor plane watching terrace with fire pits and Muskoka chairs. A plane spotter’s paradise.

@PrJaeBrown Unlike facebook and twitter, and to its credit, Mastodon has no algorithm to recommend people or push stuff into your timeline without you asking for it. It really only works if you can find interesting people (like me!) to follow.

.@United I paid $99 for an aisle seat last night IAH-YYZ — but then a lady boarded with her young child and you’d assigned them two middles.

I traded my aisle for her middle so they could sit together because I’m a decent person. I’d like my $99 back for fixing your problem.

@taykmr Thanks for the kind words. I don't know what to do here on Twitter any more - Elon is really rubbing me the wrong way. I'm starting to enjoy Mastodon but it might never have the great critical mass of interesting accounts Twitter has. Torn, really torn.

if I were a soccer coach I would emphasize two principles:

1) do not kick the ball straight at the goalie
2) goalies, don't jump in the totally opposite direction that the player is planning on kicking
