Saeed Anwar made a golden duck as Pakistan collapsed to 26 for 6 and were bowled out for 185 at Eden Gardens. In the second innings he made 188 not out, carried his bat, and out-scored his entire team's first innings on his own. He held the world record for the highest ODI score for thirteen years, and yet this, a Test innings in Kolkata, might be the best thing he ever did. Happy birthday to one of the most elegant openers Pakistan has produced.

So how bad was the situation, really? Pakistan were 26 for 6 on the opening morning of that 1998-99 Asian Test Championship match, with Anwar back in the pavilion for a first-ball duck. Moin Khan dragged them to 185 with a 70. And at the other end, Javagal Srinath was in the middle of the greatest bowling performance ever produced by a man on the losing side, 8 for 86 in one innings and 13 for 132 across the match.

Then Anwar walked back out. In front of a crowd of over 100,000 who had watched him fail once already and wanted nothing more than to watch it again, he made 188 not out. He never got out. He carried his bat through the innings, becoming only the third Pakistani in history to do it, after Nazar Mohammad and his son Mudassar Nazar. Now the freakish part is the arithmetic: 188 not out is 60% of Pakistan's total of 316, and it is more than the entire team had scored in the first innings when he made nothing at all. Pakistan won by 46 runs, and it stood as the highest Test score by a Pakistani on Indian soil until Younis Khan made 267 six years later.

But I keep coming back to the fact that he did this to the best attacks going, repeatedly. Throughout the 1990s Asian batters crumbled against Australia's pace and bounce. Anwar dominated them, 886 runs across 8 Tests at 59.06, three centuries and five fifties, which is the highest Test average any Pakistani has managed against Australia. He was not surviving those attacks. He was dictating to them, pulling and hooking the fastest bowlers of the era and turning their primary weapon into a scoring zone.

گلگت بلتستان کے 6 کوہ پیماؤں نے انسانیت اور وطن کی محبت کی ایسی مثال قائم کر دی جس نے سب کو حیران کر دیا۔

قراقرم کی 7 ہزار 27 میٹر بلند سپانٹک چوٹی سر کرنے والی 34 سالہ برطانوی نژاد پاکستانی گائناکالوجسٹ ڈاکٹر اسماء مشتاق واپسی کے دوران تقریباً 6 ہزار 400 میٹر کی بلندی پر کیمپ تھری میں طبی پیچیدگی کے باعث انتقال کر گئیں۔

شدید برفباری اور خراب موسم کے باعث ان کی جسدِ خاکی کو واپس لانا انتہائی مشکل تھا۔ تقریباً دو ہفتوں کی مسلسل جدوجہد کے بعد محبوب علی ارندو کی قیادت میں 6 رضاکار پورٹرز نے اپنی جان خطرے میں ڈال کر ڈاکٹر اسماء کی جسدِ خاکی کو تلاش کیا اور نیچے منتقل کیا۔

لیکن اصل حیرت اس وقت ہوئی جب اہلِ خانہ نے ان رضاکاروں کو بھاری معاوضہ دینے کی پیشکش کی۔
کوہ پیماؤں نے رقم لینے سے انکار کرتے ہوئے کہا:

"ہم نے یہ کام صرف اللہ کی رضا کے لیے کیا ہے۔"

یہ صرف ایک ریسکیو مشن نہیں، بلکہ انسانیت، ہمدردی اور بے لوث خدمت کی ایک شاندار مثال ہے

سائبیریا کے مہمان… ہماری پاکستان فضاؤں کی خوبصورتی۔۔۔❤️

ماشاءاللہ! سائبیریا سے ہجرت کرکے آنے والے ہمارے خوبصورت مہمان پرندوں کی آمد شروع ہو گئی ہے۔ آج دو الگ الگ گروپ ہماری فضاؤں سے گزر رہے تھے کہ ایک مخصوص آواز پر دونوں گروپ آپس میں مل گئے اور ایک ساتھ آگے بڑھ گئے۔

یہ مہاجر پرندے ہزاروں میل کا سفر طے کرکے ہماری فضاؤں میں آتے ہیں، ہمارے آسمانوں میں رنگ بھرتے، ماحول کی خوبصورتی میں اضافہ کرتے اور قدرت کے حسن کو مزید دلکش بنا دیتے ہیں۔

انہیں آزاد فضا میں اڑتے دیکھنے کا سکون ہی الگ ہے۔
خدارا، ان مہمان پرندوں کا بے دریغ شکار نہ کریں۔ انہیں اپنی فضاؤں میں محفوظ رہنے دیں تاکہ یہ اپنا سفر مکمل کرکے صحیح سلامت واپس جائیں اور اگلے سال پہلے سے بھی زیادہ تعداد میں ہماری سرزمین پر لوٹیں۔

یہ صرف پرندے نہیں… ہماری فضاؤں کے رنگ، ہمارے ماحول کی خوبصورتی اور قدرت کا حسین تحفہ ہیں۔

PTA has directed Ufone, Jazz and Zong to provide prepaid users with at least 180 days of balance validity on every recharge from October 1.

The regulator has also ordered that any expired balance must be automatically restored and made reusable once the customer recharges again. The decision aims to protect millions of prepaid subscribers from losing unused credit after validity expires. PTA said the measure follows consumer complaints and prohibits telecom operators from adopting unfair practices while implementing the new policy.

With nearly 97% of subscribers using prepaid connections, the decision is expected to provide significant relief to mobile users across Pakistan.
