I stopped by Anaconda last night to chat with Democrats and voters across Deer Lodge County. Showing up in every corner of western Montana is something I've committed myself to since Day 1, and that won't stop when I'm in Congress.
This Thursday I spoke out against HB361—a Right to Bully" bill that would allow for students to intentionally deadname and misgender trans students.
Unfortunately tbill passed committee, but not before I explained how it's inherently discriminatory, unkind, & harms my community.
As I was getting off the plane last night, a stewardess asked what I was so excited about. I told her I'd won my election & was the first trans woman elected in Montana.
She immediately teared up. "My son is trans," she said, & began to tell me about all the joys/fears... [1/3]
Canvassing is always enjoyable, but nights like tonight fill me with so much hope for Montana. So many amazing conversations (mostly about housing & human rights).
And every single person I talked to tonight was excited to support me (& wanted a yard sign), so that's nice too!
Gianforte and Republicans passed multiple bills to stop Montana citizens from voting. They targeted students, Native Americans, the elderly, and more.
They’re attacking our democracy but Democrats are fighting back to protect your right to vote. #mtpol https://t.co/1Ja7rBdK86
