@FramedTree @LoftusSteve It’s a bit confusing. The 40m isn’t salary - it’s a stipend and it’s implied here it never actually reached the doctors. I don’t know how much they actually got paid.

@botzarelli @cjsnowdon At the time I was ambivalent about the ban. I’m not and never have been a smoker, but I wasn’t complaining when my clothes didn’t smell of smoke so was broadly content. I now believe I was wrong and it was an error. Bad for pubs and gave puritans too much leverage.

@BarbaraFearn1 @London_W4 The Travelodge in covent garden is good. Tbf they have spent a lot in the last five years or so improving the older hotels, but there are still some that leave something to be desired.

@cjsnowdon Maybe it’ll be a short lived threat and the regime will collapse, but equally it’s not like there is an opposition or a nice democratic successor to him lined up. It might be an autocratic nuclear armed aggressor we have to live with for a while.

@cjsnowdon Personally I don’t think it’s crying wolf. Putin is an opportunist and if he thinks there is an opportunity he’ll take. If he doesn’t think he can win, he won’t - so it seem sensible now to prepare for war in the hope that doing so makes it less likely in the first place

@mygrassisblue7 @Brady_H In the before times I travelled a lot and confidently say I would never have used a gym at the airport. Airports are for mulling around aimlessly, doing some work or trying to find a quiet spot and a beer for some peace.
