Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Aga Syed @RuhullahMehdi stated in Parliament that while he firmly supports women’s reservation and welcomes the scheduling of discussions around it, he remains strongly opposed to delimitation practices that risk enabling deliberate gerrymandering. He cautioned that such measures, as witnessed in Kashmir, could disproportionately shift political power toward larger northern states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan - potentially allowing them to dominate national decision-making at the cost of balanced federal representation.
He concluded by asserting that true democracy lies not just in inclusion, but in ensuring that representation remains fair, balanced, and just for every region of the country.
Conveyed to Auqaf by authorities, that on the highly revered night of LailaTul Qadr when Muslims around the world supplicate and seek Allah’s forgiveness throughout the holy and blessed night, central #JamaMasjid Srinagar will be closed to the people and no shab or prayers will be allowed there. It is extremely regrettable and condemnable that the insensitivity of those in power will deprive tens of thousands of Muslims who for generations visit Jama Masjid on this night, of spiritual solace and worship, causing them and me great grief and dismay.

Jumu’atul-Wida & Political Pisoners
Our truth-tellers and political prisoners suffer unseen in Indian jails. Khurram has spent four years away from his children. Irfan was taken a month after his marriage—yesterday marked two years of his captivity.
As Ramadan’s sacred nights begin, let our duas rise to Allah SWT for their freedom and an end to oppression.
On this Jumu’atul-Wida, as we weep for Gaza, let us also remember the unjustly imprisoner from our own land, and those oppressed elsewhere such as Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid. Dua is our weapon. May Allah SWT hasten their release and grant them victory. Ameen.
When you lock the doors of a mosque on Laylat-ul-Qadr, you confess your fear of a people’s faith.
You shackle not a structure, but the hearts of Kashmiris on a night Allah calls ‘greater than a thousand months.’ By no measure is this governance, it is cowardice.
You permit obscenity on Ski Slops yet forbid worship. You allow the erosion of our dignity, but tremble at the unity of our prayers. A democratic right and religious duty. Do you fear our whispered duas?
Tomorrow, on Youm al-Quds, after Friday prayers, we will remember Palestine’s martyrs and Kashmir’s prisoners. Our faith is not confined to mosques, it rises in streets, cells, and the unseen spaces where colonial policies turn to dust.
