During the March 12 Board Meeting, the District recognized Kim Coombs, the District's K-12 Holocaust Studies and Jewish History Program Planner. She received the Robert I. Goldman Award for Excellence in Holocaust Education from the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous. This award is a national honor given annually to only one educator in the U.S.

She also received the John C. Randolph Award from the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians and Jews. The John C. Randolph Award was established to honor people in the community who exemplify the organization’s mission, which is dedicated to promoting fellowship, understanding, and respect among all religions and cultures; bringing the community together through education, dialogue, and interaction; and addressing issues rooted in intolerance, antisemitism, and unjust discrimination.

Ms. Coombs has worked for the District for 27 years. Her dedication to Holocaust education stems from a deep commitment to ensuring that students learn the lessons of history in order to combat hate and foster empathy. She believes in the power of education to make a lasting impact.

But my 5th grade daughter can cook herself 3 meals a day, responsibly logs in remotely for her education, and has technology skills beyond anything I can comprehend. These are life skills that the past year created.
